Although this branch of Majestic’s official address is on North Street, it backs on to Dumbarton Road — where there is also an entrance. If you’re heading in to Majestic from the Old Dumbarton Road entrance — don’t be put off by the doorbell! You will find that the door is locked(to keep the scallys out I imagine) and to get in you need to ring the bell and wait for a staff member to arrive to open the door for you. I speak from experience when I say that you could be waiting a while… If you want to avoid the whole doorbell rigmarole, you can just head round to the North Street entrance. Here you’ll also find a reasonable sized car park, which is free to Majestic customers. Although individual bottles of wine are cheap in Majestic — there is one specific reason why it doesn’t really attract the local student crowd. What is it? That you have to buy a minimum of six bottles. They do however have an amazing selection of wines, and have a lot of really tasty bottles for very little money. Definitely worth a trip if you fancy buying yourself a present of the liquid type. Majestic also sells a very large selection of bottled beers by the crate — and there is no minimum buy there. This is a very cost effective way to stock up on beer! Majestic also sell bottled spirits — making it a great place to head if you’re thinking about hosting a party. Do remember, though, that Majestic is primarilly a warehouse. This means that it does feel like a supermarket inside(albeit with rather better stock!). The service, however, is really nice and friendly — and the staff are usually able to advise you on the wines available.
