Recommended Macintyres to my son as the only place to go to buy engagement ring and it’s been a disaster. So disappointed in them now as a company. Feel there should have been some kind of magnanimous gesture from them to try to make up for ruining what should have been a very special occasion but short of some vouchers for money off wedding rings there has been nothing.

Purchased my fiancée’s engagement ring from MacIntyres. After three days, one of the diamonds fell out. Took around two weeks to fix, with the staff promising that it wouldn’t happen again. 3 days after we got it back, another stone fell out. The engagement ring that I spent the best part of £1k on has been on my fiancée’s finger for around a week. MacIntyres offered the equivalent of 15% off wedding bands and my money back, an absolute disgrace. What should have been one of the most special day of our lives is now one of the most disappointing. Would not recommend.

I received a bracelet from John Macintyre and Sons for my 21st birthday, and liked it so much that I went back a week later to try and find some charms for it. It wasn’t until I got the bracelet that I even realised the place existed; its nestled away down a small alley on Buchanan street and up a couple of flights of stairs. When you do reach the shop though, it’s just as big as any high street jewellers, in fact it’s even bigger than quite a few in Glasgow. John Macintyre’s is good for all occasions because they stock jewellery to suit all price ranges. Ideal for birthdays, especially 18th or 21st where you can’t afford to spend a fortune but want something that looks swish and more expensive than it is. I bought a couple of silver charms to match my bracelet; a cute Hot Diamonds flower disc for £19 and a ‘little book of secrets’ charm for just over £20. They were adorable, and they soldered them on for me in the shop for free! Take a wee walk up the stairs and check out John Macintyre and Sons, you’re bound to find something sparkly to spend your money on!
