I wouldn’t normally have gone into Link of London, mistakenly thinking that they just do cufflinks, and the very popular charm bracelets. Also I thought it was probably a bit posh for the likes of me! But I was enticed in by an event, featuring Sipsmiths gin — one of my favourites. And how wrong I was! Links of London have some beautiful jewellery, and very reasonably priced too. I really like simple, understated, elegant jewellery, and there is plenty of that in here. We were shown around by a lovely employee — Shona perhaps — and she was so helpful and pleasant. She seemed to cotton on to my taste right away and pointed out different pieces that she thought I might like. She even showed me a bracelet that I liked, and I am totally not a bracelet person. In fact, there were two that I liked! And quite a few beautiful necklaces too. We were then drawn by a fashion illustrator as one of the activities of the event. The resulting illustration was so lovely and I was really delighted with it. What a unique and lovely thing to have done — thanks Links! Next time I want to treat myself to something beautiful, Links of London will definitely be my first stop.

Links of London’s name is synonymous with the aforementioned ‘sweetie bracelet’, a craze which swept the UK about a year or so ago, and still lingers even now. Go inside this small shop in trendy Princes Square, however, and you will see that the sweetie bracelet is just one small item in the sea of gorgeousness that Links offer. I always love coming into Links of London because the staff are just smashing. Lovely and welcoming, they don’t come across as overbearing, and allow you a free browse whilst always being just at the corner of your eye when you need some help. A sign of a perfect shop assistant in my opinion. The jewellery is pretty spaced out and un-cluttered, with the glass cabinets and clean lines giving the place a really expensive feel. There are some really nice pieces in here; a range of baby bracelets and trinkets which would make an excellent gift for the little fashionista in the family(although think niece or nephew or actual own child rather than Isabella from the Office’s third sprog) These don’t come cheap at upward of 70 pounds, but none the less, they’re irresistible. The adult selection is stunning too, with a range for both men and women. I really like Link’s understated bling factor removing the tackiness you find in most jewellers around town. Perfect for a shiny pressy for someone special.

Links has some absolutely stunning pieces of jewellery complete with a rather hefty price tag! The big seller is their charm bracelets and they sell the original«Sweetie bracelet» which has been very popular for the past couple of years. They have an extensive range of charms and you can get pretty much anything you can think of. One time I even saw an 18ct gold toilet charm priced at £400 — I guess if you have money to flush away then that would be appropriate. They also stock rings of every description along with earrings and necklaces to match. Their gift wrapping is beautiful and every purchase come in Links of London packaging which is a work of art in itself. Overall, beautiful stock but very overpriced and you could probably find something equally as nice if not nicer at any other jewellers. It’s more the brand name that you’re paying for here.

Famous for their«Sweetie Bracelet» which equates to an elastic band with lots of rings on it, Links of London is popular amongst younger women. You’re able to choose your own charms for your bracelet for an added degree of personalisation. Although famed for these bracelets alone, Links of London does have other pieces of jewellery that are much more attractive and in my opinion, seriously better value for money. The jewellery in general is quite unique and you won’t find it in your other run of the mill jewellers. With this in mind it explains why the jewellery is expensive so it’s best kept for a treat or special occassion. The interior of this shop is a little bit dull with flashes of light from jewellery cabinets that line the walls and take up the floor space. The shop doesn’t have a lot of room to manouvere about and there is lots of «Excuse me please» and easing yourself past people when the shop is busy.
