Greggs. I wrote a recent sketch for a sketch show pilot that I like to think hit the nail on the head where two guys are on the phone moaning to each other about how they were supposed to meet outside Greggs, only to discover they went to different Greggs. They re-organise to meet at another branch, and the same problem encounters. Repeat one more time(comedy works to the principal of ‘three’) as a recurring gag in a 30 minute sketch show. Such is the omnipresence of Greggs in Glasgow City Centre. The common myth that you’re only ever a few metres away a rat, was actually based on the principal of never being more than a few metres away from Greggs. This one is on Union Street, and as such, gets really busy at peak times. Less so than the one literally round the corner though which attracts the folks employed in the businesses that dominate that region to the West of Glasgow Central. The service is as good as anywhere else, with a familiar layout and a constant production line of savouries. Could do worse for a snack at lunch o’ clock.

A fairly large store compared to some of the city centre Greggs. Good range of products, all freshly made. Staff can be a bit gruff, especially at lunch time when there’s big queues, but overall not bad. Handy for Central train station.
