For a quick, pre train caffeine run, this is absolutely ideal. Situated right under the Big Clock in the main station concourse (the clue’s in the name, kids!) it’s right on the way to wherever your train may be if you come in the main entrance.
Risking missing a train for one glorious, delicious, life affirming shot of caffeine is never good, but this stand makes it a lot easier than going to the Gordon Street Coffee branch at the front of the station, so this is a good thing.
There are seats and tables so you can sit in the middle of the station and peoplewatch to your heart’s content if you desire.
Only a four star, as the coffee is the same quality and standard as the main branch, but the choice of food and snacks isn’t the same. But coffee! COFFEE is the thing! Flat White for life, yo!

Sometimes even the most fleeting interactions can make your day. My morning coffee stop at Gordon St Under The Clock is testament to this fact, and it went a little something like this:
— Smile-​inducing moment no.1: I was wearing my favourite jacket — a crazy, bright one with sequins all over — which the kind fellow who served me complimented. Just the kind of welcome that can’t help but bring a smile to even the grumpiest of morning people, for sure.
— Smile-​inducing moment no.2: Followed by, arguably, the most sincere ‘hello, how are you?’ in the whole of Glasgow. — Genuinely lovely.
— Smile-​inducing moment no.3: He told me that I was welcome to chill out in their lovely seating area. I wish I could have indulged in some people watching but, alas, I had a busy day ahead. He asked where I was off to. I told him. We chatted. It was nice.
This was such a quick visit but it really did make my day.
One big smile-​inducer.
