Glasgow Central Station

200 check ins… Guess I should maybe review the place I pass through almost every day! I have a weird soft spot for this place, that you wouldn’t expect someone to have for a train station and I always have. Growing up in Ayr, Glasgow was our go to day out when I was a kid and I have the same memory of every trip, getting a blueberry muffin from Millie’s on our way home, looking up at the glass roof and being hurried to the train. :)
Now I go to and from work at commuter time and I still think the place has charm.
Some great things, there’s a bunch of shops and eateries. Some are great, Gordon street, taco mazama, a boots which is often super handy! It’s also got the usual over priced WH smith and a few coffee shop chains but we can forgive it for catering to the countless tourists that pass through each day.
You can get trains all over the country from here so it’s always a busy hub of people for all different reasons. And has the handy low levels if you’re just wanting to get around Glasgow.
It has everything you could want from a station, in a lovely old building! The staff are pretty helpful although you don’t actually have to interact with them often.

I spend so much of my time every day in Glasgow Central — I can’t believe I’ve neglected to review my haunt for so long!
I feel really lucky to have such a fantastic station as my most frequent travel dominion — little shops, good facilities, clean and well maintained this is a great train station.
Glasgow Central is also the first train station in Scotland to have fully accessible changing facilities for adults with disabilities in addition to other toilets which is a fantastic addition to their facilities for disabled customers and travelers.
The shops in the main concourse include a small but perfectly formed Body Shop, WH Smith, a medium sized Boots, M & S and Thorntons as well as a Scribblr, Accessorize and food and drink concessions and outlets including Patesserie Valerie, Costa, AMT and Millie’s Cookies. There are also a few other bars such as the Arrol.
Downstairs you’ll find a Ladbrokes and a photobooth which is always handy to remember for those passport sized photos! Stylist/​Shortlist vendors can be found at all station entrances most days too.
The station also provides a gateway to some of the best places in Glasgow — the Grand Central Hotel which houses Tempus restaurant and Champagne Central Bar; the Alston restaurant and Gordon Street Coffee.
There are plenty of automated ticket machines as well as upstairs and downstairs customer service counters. Be aware that ticket barriers are in place throughout the station. There are also cash machines in the upstairs part of the station and lots of bike parking facilities.

I love train stations, it might have to do with my love of trains, my grandpa was a conductor back in the day, so it just might be instilled in me.
Glasgow Central Station does not disappoint.
1^st of all, it’s very well lit, with signs pointing everywhere, it would be kind of hard to get lost, but if that does happen they are staff there to help you.
It’s like a mini city inside, there is plenty of places to shop and eat at, in fact we had some time to kill and stopped in at Central Bar for a pint & a bite to eat.
Traveling by train is a great way to see other sights, just sit back and enjoy the ride!
