Vastly improved from my visits when it first opened. Was in with my Gran for an early evening dinner on an absolutely chucking it with rain June evening. We were kept supplied with tea & coffee while we waited til 5pm and dinner service. As is ubiquitious with Café Source, the Cullen Skink is delicious! My Gran opted for the daily special of Sea Bass, whereas I couldn’t resist the call of crispy brisket salad with house slaw. Twas fantastic! Service was very friendly and patient(a big must when out with my 81yrs young gran!), and nothing could be faulted on this visit.

Our second visit to Café Source Too, this time we came in a party of 6 adults, a young kid, and a 4-week-old baby. The service was extremely friendly, it’s certainly a child-friendly place, maybe it could have been faster but I think they knew we were in for the long haul. The beef daube I found a bit less gratifying than last time, there was less veg for a start, but my partner had the cullen skink and said it was really impressive with huge quantities of fish and potatoes. For my start I had the pulled pork and black pudding slider, very nice it was too.

I normally got o Café Source quite a lot however it is always the one located in St Andrew’s square in the merchant city and have not but praises to sing for them. Was quite disappointed in this sister restaurant however due to below reasons. * Location VERY poor, it’s party of a Rugby club which straight away deters from the first class look and feel experienced at the St Andrews Square restaurant. * Taxi drivers both private hire and TOA did not know where the place was and it was very difficult to locate on Sat Nav also * We asked for very slight alterations to menu such as mash instead of Risotto with the beef to first were told unsure if this could be made but then after checking with the manager this was all fine. * It is quite far out from any nearby pubs, clubs etc unlike the sister café in Merchant City. All in all ended up quite an expensive night due to it’s location, love Café Source but will not be returning to this one.

N and I came here for dinner one sunny day when looking for a place we could sit outside. In the end it was a bit chilly but we enjoyed some drinks outside while waiting for a table and the venue is ideal for a nice day in Glasgow, right next to a big pitch with plenty of picnic tables to sit at. We liked the sound of the menu and I had trouble deciding what to have but ended up going for stovies as I just love stovies and hadn’t had them for ages!(Even though they aren’t very summery!) I had the smoked haddock risotto to start and it was delicious! The perfect portion size and very tasty. Unfortunately I was a bit disappointed with my stovies. I know stovies can be made many different ways and there are some arguments about the best/proper way but whether it’s beef/lamb, has sausage in or not, I always thought it was called Stovies because it was made on the stove in a big pot, meat and potatoes thrown in or layered, maybe with onions and gravy or stock. Anyway, what I got was not at all what I expected — more like mince & tatties. Chunks of boiled new potatoes with minced meat, bits of sausage and the odd little bit of ‘proper’ meat and a poached egg. I tried mashing up the potatoes into it but I really didn’t enjoy it, the flavour wasn’t great. The egg was the best bit. Nik had smoked salmon(which he enjoyed but didn’t feel it went with the sweet chilli sauce it was served with?!) and fish & chips which he liked. Service was efficient and friendly and the prices were OK but I would never order stovies here again.

Mr. M and I came here last night to rescue our evening after we walked out of our first choice restaurant before even ordering(those baddies had done a dramatic price hike, but didn’t change the menu online and wouldn’t honor the lower price… BOO!). I was a bit apprehensive, as my last experience at Café Source Too had been rather underwhelming, but we were hungry and had few other options for a decent evening out… On the surface, the menu at Café Source Too was largely similar to my last visit, but the food we received was of a much higher quality than I remembered before. I had a gorgeous pan-fried cod wrapped in bacon on a bed of potatoes and cherry tomatoes and my husband had a chicken caesar salad. We also had starters and shared an amazing Orkney fudge cheesecake with a berry coulis. The service was friendly, the prices were good(£15 for three courses on the pre-theatre menu) and the quality was where we felt it should be. Café Source Too saved us from a very disappointing evening — just when it looked like all was lost, we ended up having a fab night out!

I will keep this brief as I am twice biased. Café Source at St. Andrews in the Square did the catering for my wedding and I worked at Hillhead Sports Club before the refurb so this was a double reminisce for me. The food and wine were both delicious. I won’t go into further detail, other than it was really good. I will remember that meal for a while.
