I’m not a fan of Asda at all. I’ve given it two stars purely because it’s cheap and I buy stationery and some cleaning stuff from there. Apart from that, I avoid doing food shopping here. I’m not impressed by their fresh produce. This section is tiny in comparison to the supermarket size overall. There isn’t much of a selection and it’s displayed in a way which I think puts you off eating healthy fresh food. Their meat selection is generally unappetizing with the exception of the fish counter which I think looks pretty good. I’ve previously gotten food here which has spoiled really quickly in the fridge which means it just goes to waste. Apart from the food, this is generally a good place to pop in to find random stuff. Recent purchases of mine include a laminator for £10 which I was pretty impressed by. Some of the staff are friendly and chipper which is nice to see, but I tend to leave in a worse mood than I arrived because it’s crowded and everyone is a bit grumpy here.

This Asda store is the main attraction in the Avenue shopping centre in Newton Mearns. It’s open till 10pm most days and stocks a wide variety of goods, alongwith foodstuffs there is a clothing(George) section, Audio/Video and some electronics. They also have a nice selection of cards just opposite the main entrance(next to the magazines) which are a great option if Clintons is shut. Staff here are friendly, though they seem to change quite often. If it’s raining outside, note that you can park in the covered car park on the lower level and walk into the Avenue via a covered walkway, down which you can also take your Asda trolley(bring a pound coin to get one!).
