I was originally going to put 3 stars but I had to change to 2 stars for the sometimes glacial service at evenings and weekends and my last experience with the desert. (2.5 stars really) Starters are ‘OK’, The stars here are the mains and desserts, but don’t expect ‘posh’ food, it’s good ‘basic’ food. Sometimes what arrives at your table doesn’t exactly match whats on the menu, an example of this my latest desert, it was supposed to be an adult sounding ‘ice-cream with a chocolate shell and a hot rum flavour melting sauce’ What arrived was squirty ice-cream(ice-cream van squirty ice-cream from a machine) a thick layer of chocolate sauce from a tube and a pouring jar of luke warm goop that didn’t taste of anything much. remove the goop and it would have made a decent kids desert. Speed of service can vary a LOT, come in for lunch during the week and it’s fast and friendly, come in of an evening towards the end of the week or at weekends and you will find the staff over-worked and long waiting times between arriving, your order being taken, and an even longer time before your starter arrives. Sometimes I’ve been sitting there looking at my food sitting on the heating plates for 15 minutes with the cooks looking at the order sheets, wondering where the service staff was so they could clear it and put other meals on there to wait to be sent out.

If you’re looking to be surprised then this is the place for you! When the waitress knows what you want more than you you can just sit back end enjoy the ride. You could get literally anything. The kitchen really know how to help you keep up a diet by skipping dressings that you’ve chosen and making the food delightfully room temperature to ensure you won’t want to eat too much! Make sure you grab yourself a club card so that you can always remember how much money you wasted! 1⁄10 would not go again.

A generous 3 stars for this establishment. Living just minutes walk from here for a fair number of years my husband and I only really came here a few times because in all honesty it’s way over priced for the quality and service. They pride themselves on their Steaks all of which are ‘eh’, I’ve had a lot better elsewhere. Their chips however are really good! They have some spicy seasoning on them which admittedly you could easily do at home but they just don’t taste the same. Desserts are pretty good here too but it’s rare I find a dessert I don’t like. The Caramel Apple Crumble with Custard is probably the highlight of the meal… my advise is skip the entrée and go straight to dessert, you won’t be sorry. Service — Slooooow! Be expected to wait 10 minutes or so for someone to take your order, another 10 minutes for a drink and then anywhere up to an hour for your food. Typical British service really. we’re world known for it! If you’re staying at the new Premier Inn next door you can also get Breakfast here which is around £5−12 depending on if you go for Full English or Continental.
