Major music and family market venue right in the heart of town, with historical background. First built in 1874 as a town market hall, it is adjacent to a former train goods line, where local produce(as the same suggests) of cheese and grains were stored there. It underwent several metamorphosis — munitions store during WW1, occasional trade exhibitions, factory storage — until in the 1990’s it was taken over by the District Council and Town Council and refurbished completely to turn it into a multi-purpose community hall. You will find local Farmer’s Markets on a weekly basis(great quality fresh produce) during the days, and the evenings it’s the setting for concerts of all kinds, from the punk/funk/rock to new bands and — well, everything you can imagine. There’s a café and bar inside the premises, and the car park is right in front of it, so it ticks all the boxes! Check out the website for what’s on, and go enjoy!
