This was built on the site of Exeters old bus maitainance depot and uses the original building. The screens feel a little in your face, but the sound is superb, so if your board with mainstream cinema, this is an interesting alternative. Bar and café.

Comfortable. Good films. Over-priced bar run by the slowest human beings in the history of the world. Slo-mo sloths. They can’t add up either. When you finally get your drink or food it’s quite good sport watching the ‘filmy’ types turn up. Least you get a laugh.

They don’t always show the best of films(top box office) but they do have a nice bar upstairs and do still show good films. Worth a visit

This is an excellent cinema, situated on Bartholomew street in Exeter, reasonably close to the city centre. The films that they show here range from art house production to blockbusters. They have a bar, and you can bring your drinks into the cinema with you, which is always fun! The staff are very friendly, and have been very helpful when I wanted to know what restaurants were good in the vicinity. The prices are reasonably competitive, although the Odeon is cheaper you don’t get the same ambience. I love to go this cinema, and have taken my wife here on several occasions as a treat for her birthday and our anniversary.

The bar of the Picturehouse gives a very bohemian feel! The decent selection of leftfield films makes it the choice of the filmlover in Exeter. Very comfortable seats. There is a decent membership scheme that is worth joining if you are in Exeter on a long term basis and like going to the cinema.

This is the cinema for you if you often enjoy films that are not on wide release. They have a lovely little bar upstairs. Although the seats are not as comfy or the screens as big as other cinema’s, it is an independent cinema and should be seen as such. Friendly, helpful staff.

The Picture house is a great independent cinema. They show a good variety of foreign and subtitled movies, coupled with modern blockbusters. The cinema is smallish and quirky but it has a few screens and is a lot quieter than the Vue or the Odeon. It also does reruns of classics on weekends and has a mother and baby screening on saturday mornings. you can join for an annual membership fee of around £40 which entitles you to three free tickets and discounts on all other tickets purchased
