I recall the others, whom occupied this facility, there were other than«British» fare. Often changing management-ship, more than once, and I think the name! Anyways, It was the first to be British fare in the Town, and I am not knocking the others, however there is a lot of competition on that front! It is still there, and I hope they have noted others reviews, and are continuing, where others have fallen by the wayside.

oh dear i was disappointed by this place… firstly the food was over priced — expensive for epsom! i wouldnt mind paying alot if the food was exceptional… The food was«trying» to be special but FAILING considerably. each dish i had was a disappointment and i couldnt finish them! i went with two friends and they werent thrilled by their food either. such a SHAME. i would prefer to go to The Derby Arms also in Epsom with similar prices, nicer ambience, and BETTERFOOD.

This particular location in Epsom has seen many restaurants take residence but not for long. I’m not sure what the problem is because it has an ideal location on Epsom’s own restaurant row of South Street and the restaurant is a lovely bright glass-fronted unit Field to Fork has survived longer than previous incumbents, serving brasserie style locally sourced food. They are proud of the provenance of their food, hence the ‘Field to Fork’ name. To keep in with the seasonal produce, the menu changes monthly The menu certainly reads well and the kitchen shows ambition by the way it has written the menu My friend Hilary and I popped in here for dinner before catching a movie We shared the Norbury blue crème brûlée, red wine & honey poached pear with black pepper crostini. It was a nice combination with the sweet pear mixing well with the robust blue cheese and crusty crostini though I wasn’t quite sure where the crème brûlée name fitted in For main course, I had the pheasant with hazelnut & sausage stuffing wrapped in bacon, baby pumpkin, autumn greens and mashed potato. They had tried to present this dish in a elegant way but the portion sizes were just too large to be able to achieve this. The pheasant had dried out despite the use of bacon and stufiing to try and keep it moist. A dish in which the ambition of the kitchen was perhaps not matched by the skiil. Game is hard to cook and a stew may be easier Hilary had the venison haunch, beetroot tart & parsnips. The venison was nice but she pronounced the beetroot tart far too sweet and left most of it. I tried a bit and had to concur. Again a nice idea to use beetroot in the tart but it need something to moderate the sweetness Our movie meant there was no time for dessert. I do want to support Field to Fork as a local business and their aim of seasonality is very commendable. However, for now, I have to award 3 stars and wish them well. There are signs of promise but the execution has to improve in order to justify the prices

Went to dinner at the Field to Fork prior to a show last night. One of my party had been here before and had liked it. For this reason I had high hopes. I also liked that they had multiple vegetarian options for my partner which is hard to find in the area. Sadly things went down hill from there. The restaurant was empty do you would have thought we would get fast service. The one member of staff on the floor seemed more interested in changing a lightbulb than taking our order and we had to eventually call out to him to get his attention. When we did finally get our food I was disappointed. I ordered the wild boar burger with wedges. Sounded interesting yet pricey. Well they brought out this tiny burger with an onion ring on top and 5 or 6 onion wedges in a tin bucket. The burger was dry and tasteless and the wedges were caked in salt. Not at all what I expected from the description or the price. My companion had a vegetarian purple salad which she was also disappointed with. It lacked flavour and had hardly any dressing. I had the only dessert of the evening which was the pavlova with poached pear. The pavlova was hard but the pear was tasty. Overall for 3 with a bottle of wine, one dessert, 3 coffees and a couple of Baileys the bill was £80. Have to say I won’t be rushing back.

This looked really promising when it opened and I wanted it to be good. There is a distinct lack of nice gastro pub type food around epsom and none that sells themselves on good British produce. Busy when we walked in. Waited ages to be served and waited ages to get our food. Wouldn’t have minded the wait if the food was worth it, but it truly wasn’t. Food was over-priced for what it was. Dishes and menu tried to be something it couldn’t pull off. I’d say that the food was spectacularly disappointing… Both on the palate, quantity, and quality… Presentation was pretty nice though. Sadly I won’t be returning.

Came here on a week day dinner & was surprised to be told there would be a 20min wait. Ok, I don’t mind if the food is worth the wait & they did have a bar to chill with a quick beer. After 30mins my quick beer became a long one… we were still waiting so ordered some lovely green olives & granary bread. Another 30mins had passed, the wait began to be annoying esp’ 10pm on a Wednesday & half empty restaurant!!! Finally got a table, dishes looked interesting — such as venison with venison pie, steak, belly of pork, duck breast, venison burger, lemon sole & calves liver. I got the venison & venison pie, it was ok but boring, I expect something special if I’m paying £16 for a main. My friend had the duck breast which they enjoyed. Desserts looked very tempting, jam sponge, treacle tart, fudge pudding, very old school! Unfortunately they took so long it was too late to indulge, pudding this time of night was a bit full on for me — maybe on the weekends. Overall the feel of the restaurant felt like a chain, the staff were very friendly, but the long wait & average food provided a slightly disappointing experience… they did offer a drink on the house for the long wait though. I really wanted to like this place, but 3 average stars I’m afraid. Maybe next time.

Had a lovely lunch with some friends on Saturday afternoon. The staff were great and very accommodating to our party of six plus baby… they even had a little truck for him to play with! The food was delicious and I enjoyed it even more knowing it was all local produce. They had a £10 deal which included a main from a set menu, a drink(which included alcohol) and then a tea or coffee. The food was delicious although I felt the portion was a little small. I did, however, appreciate having my chips in a mini metal bucket and my relish in a little individual jar. Great presentation! It was a friend’s birthday and we’d brought our own cake and candles which the staff kindly and happily brought out after our food. So, a big thank you to the wonderful staff at Field to Fork — this is a great place for a relaxing and friendly lunch.
