An excellent park with a huge skate park at one edge. The skate park is always busy even in winter when it’s raining so it must be good. There are kids of all ages as well as adults that practice here. The rest of the park is great for running with quite a few paths around the edge. There is lots of grass to play various ball game on and they have youth football matches here at the weekends. The rose garden has been closed for redevelopment work but is a great sheltered location to sit in the sun on a nice day.

You would catch me skating or biking on the runs. But you can watch the guys and gals do neat tricks. It’s quite big with a variety of skilled hills and corners to tackle! I know nothing of skate parks but it looks good.

This is what cities need more of places like this– multi-purpose parks that have a range of things that both young and old can enjoy ensuring that kids of the city are not aimlessly loitering around on the streets. The park has a pretty big skating area within in and when I was there it was full of kids who were either skating or just sitting and watching their mates skate. The park also has several football pitches, some of which as Robert points out aren’t the best, but on the whole they seem pretty good. There is also a new all weather football pitch with artificial grass that would also be able to be playable on even in the midst of a Scottish winter. The park also has an enclosed running track, a children’s play area and general recreational areas.

This is a park which remains very popular among the local people especially amongst the younger generations due to its skateboard and bmx park which is always heaving with young people who appear in their own way to be enjoying themselves. The actual park itself has a good number of proper pitches and I have played 11-a-side on the pitches here. My personal experience, however, is not particularly good and I consider the pitch we played on to be a bit of a joke seeing as it was on a rather steep slope(although I will concede that half the pitch was flat). Luckily I happened to be playing on the flat side both ends swapping sides half way through the game, but considering the fact that we were paying to play on what was a better golf course than football pitch I wasn’t that impressed and it ruined the game. It isn’t, however, a bad recreation ground, but one that is certainly not worth paying for.
