Went in for lunch with my step brother, I didn’t have long as I had to go back to work(boo). I work on leith walk so it was nice and handy and I had perused the menu on my way past a few times, looked tasty, and indeed it was. Very. I had whitebait follow by a smoked mussel broth and trout on top. Yum. My brothers mushroom soup looked amazing, I wasn’t allowed a taste! And his chicken supreme with mash looked great, again I was not allowed a morsel! I will be going back soon with someone who will share their food. Massive improvement from the meridian as it used to be(I never went in too frightened) great addition to leith walk x

I’ve walked past Leith Depot a couple of times but thought it was just a bar. Well it’s not ‘just’ a bar — it’s a smallish bistro style restaurant. You can go here and have a decent plate of simple, tasty food at a reasonable price as well. The menu is not massive, which is probably a good thing — also it has some vegetarian and vegan options. I ordered the chimichurri chicken which was nested on a salad of sweet potato, feta and cashew nuts. It looked so good! I’m happy to report it was divine — I couldn’t fault it. The waitress came over to explain the dessert menu so I decided to try the carrot cake. Again, it was amazing — just perfect. Not a crumb left on my plate. I’m pleased to see this new addition on Leith Walk and no doubt will be returning again!

We’re always up for trying a new place to eat in Leith so we stopped by the Leith Depot on a lazy Sunday post New Year celebrations. What used to be The Meridian bar has now transformed in a funky little bistro pub. The bricked up windows have been removed to reveal a bright and spacious interior. It’s not a huge place, with seating for about 30 but these are nicely spaced and places to perch at the bar too. There is a good selection of beers on tap and bottled with the usual suspects, Brewdog etc, as well as wines and spirits. We settle at a cozy wee table for two. The menu is goood! Healthy and hearty food promising fresh produce. There are some great vegetarian options too. I go for the smoked tofu kedgeree and David the chicken with tarragon sauce. So far so good. Time ticks on, we don’t mind waiting as the atmosphere is relaxing enough. However, after 40 minutes I am starting to get a bit peckish. I think we must have caught the kitchen staff just as they were reopening after the New Year. They must have not done any prep before opening. The food arrives and thankfully it is delicious! My kedgeree is so tasty, I am definitely going to try that at home. David’s chicken was awesome too, it came with a HUGE pile of mash and a very tasty sauce. The chef obviously has a great palette. Would definitely give this place another go, simply based on the quality of the food. It was there first day back after New Year, I know what I’m like with an extended hangover! Cheers, Amy

So happy to see Leith depot as an addition to Leith walk. I have been in for drinks a few times and had a great night in this lovely bar, the drinks selection is excellent and the make over is great. very cosy, welcoming and beautiful toilets too(not often I rave about toilets) Was seriously impressed by the food there. Came for lunch with family members and had a lasagne which was one of the best I’ve had in years, had a Smokeyness to the tomato sauce which made it stand out along with a large side salad with mini mozzarella. Really great stuff and just £7. My relatives had fish and chips and were very happy with their selection. Really affordable, delicious food. The people running the place have done a great job. The staff are pleasant and attentive. The chefs are excellent also. I look forward to seeing live music upstairs soon. Very grateful to have Leith depot as an addition to the walk.

This fab new bar is another amazing addition to a number of bars springing up in Leith lately serving craft beers, comfortable atmosphere and great food. Tonight I sampled the menu. Shared two platters which were filled with interesting and tasty cheeses, chutney, dips and loads more. And really good value for money at just £6& £7 per platter and no extra charge for more oatcakes and bread. The rest of their menu hosts lots of varied and interesting options with plenty of fish and vegetarian dishes — definitely a step up from standard pub grub! The Depot is also a music venue with a wee room upstairs for bands to play… quite cosy upstairs but a great vibe. Can see this place fast becoming a regular haunt for me!
