The Conan Doyle Café is a brand new café situated within the stunning Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Centre. It serves coffee, tea, cakes, cold drinks, soup, sandwiches and snacks. The home-made cakes are amazing. They come in fresh every day. In keeping with the surroundings, tea is served in fancy bone china cups and saucers. The menu is modest but is apparently set to grow. Aside from the cakes, soup and sandwiches, they have a nice range of coffees and teas, including some speciality teas and herbals. It is still early days yet but it promises to be good. Owners Astra and Angie have been working together for the past year in the Social Bite café on Rose Street. And the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Centre is a magnificent building offering loads of community events and classes, including yoga, creches, an art gallery and writing classes. If you are in the West End and are in the mood for tasty nibbles, and want to support a local venture instead of the big franchises(you know which I mean), then this is worth trying. One word of warning though: parking is pretty much non-existent so more one for folks on foot.
