Failed to cut hair right(anything like photo) first time but it looked okay so I left it, was a mess within an hour so went back the next day and they were good about fixing it. Then ‘subtle’ colouring was too subtle to notice(again not like photo we used when discussing it) and while they did offer to touch it up, I was done by that stage. 3hours, 100 quid, one nondescipt and unintended hairdo. Shame. Points for trying to fix things and they were very nice people but quite frankly I’ll not trust them with my hair again.

Stylist Joe has a knack for short hair. Always looks amazing and easy to style! Truly…I never had short hair in my life until June, when Joe gleefully chopped it all off. While(honestly) telling me that he wouldn’t do this for anyone who asked for it. Would want the person to be happy and suit the look. Not everyone does. Obviously. I don’t love the price, but I love the service, experience and overall feeling of fabulousness I get when I leave. That’s what makes me a repeat customer. Which reminds me, I need to book an appointment. My hair is getting long ;)

The shop staff are lovely they are mostly all well mannered and very accomodating. You get offered a drink and a good chat and it feels like it is alot more than just a haircut you get you leave feeling alot better which makes the high prices worth it for the great service. Anytime i phone i get an appointment asap i never get put off they make a great effort to give me when and what i want. The only reason they lose a star is sometimes when it gets busy they forget the little things no drink or you get rushed a bit at the end which can be dissapointing but overall i would highly recommend as a great place to go for a haircut and meet some great people.

I’ve been going to Cheynes for around six years now and it is usually really busy and quite tight to walk around when getting from the area to have your hair washed to where you have the cut. I guess this is a sign of the popularity of the place. The staff are really friendly and are always chatty. It can be a little pricey but no more than you would expect for a city centre established chain.

It’s not really a hairdressers, more of a factory. I’ve never seen so many people in the one salon at the same time, basically it’s ran like a fast food shop — they want you in and out as fast as humanly possible. There’s not even any hairdressers chat, no one cared where I’m doing at the weekend, let alone where I’m going on my holidays. Secretly, or not so secretly(remembering I’m writing this on the Internet) I quite like it, I like to sit in stoney silence until it’s almost unbearable for all involved. Now, being a big company(but Scottish based) it has plenty of deals and associations with things like Snapfax, and even though I’ve never been a student, hence never having a NUS card to accompany the Snapfax they really don’t care. Go on a Tuesday morning off the street it’s cheaper, get it done by a student it’s cheaper etcetc. It’s totally worth it because let’s face it, it’s only hair.

When it comes to hairdressers I dont think you can comment on how good a cut was but as far as the service goes, I thought that this was really good. I turned up early for my appointment and my stylist was running late but he made the effort to come over himself and let me know etc. I am not usually very comfortable in hairdressers with the random chatter that you get, but this hairdresser made me feel very at ease and I could have stayed and chatted all day! The whole shop was busy but they kept it very clean regardless and everything seemed very organised, there was no hair in piles on the floor or waiting for equipment to become available. The price was about average for the city centre and as seem to be the norm, was dependant on the experience of the individual stylist.
