When we first moved to the area, we didn’t know anyone to get a recommendation from, so we went to this Vets not knowing any better. We had two dogs and one was displaying symptoms of Diabetes, sure enough, he had it, but instead of getting better, a week later, he was going downhill. Maybe they misdiagnosed? Went back to one of the senior vets, who was one of the owners, who made my dog Unilocal when he tried to take blood from his leg,(my dog has only Unilocaled twice in the twelve years we had him, tough little buggar). This old sod was wiggling the needle around trying to find his vein. He had a very arrogant and uncaring manner too. Confirmed he had diabetes again, and no, there was nothing else wrong with him. That night, my dog was breathing rapidly and heart racing, and wasn’t well. We went to another vet a bit further away who took one look at him, how he had a pot belly and hair loss, and how he was overnight and said ‘I’m going to test for Cushings disease.’ Sometimes dogs have diabetes and Cushings, although it is rare. He also said he was about a day away from dying. We never went back to Ryan and Calder and have heard from various dog walkers that they don’t go to them and no one they know goes there, and now we know why. Have heard many bad stories about them; misdiagnosis and abrupt manner the main complaints, and it is not possible to list them all here.
