Great value for money and very friendly staff that obviously work hard to give such a good selection of food and its all very tasty. The salad bar in particular was very good and very fresh

Stuff yourself silly with average, all you can eat food! Taybarns was one of those mystical places I always heard people talk about but I had no idea where it was. to be honest, I still don’t! I haven’t lived in the midlands for years, and only went because my sister took me the last time I went to visit. Its really cheap at £7.99 for an all you can eat buffet, with loads of different food to choose from. To be honest the quality of the food is a lot better than some AYCE places I have been to. In particular, I remember the desserts tasting really good. Somewhere different for a cheap meal out.

taybarns is really for cheap and maybe not so cheerful. Having been to a few different buffet all you can eat restaurant chains before I have had good experiences of other places and this place really does not compare to those. the quality of the food you can taste is not as good, but the service was fine.

I tend to go to ‘all you can eat’ places with my partner, as I know he’s getting my moneys worth too, but with Taybarns I actually got my moneys worth without my partner having to have a little extra, I couldn’t believe how much food there was. It’s set out with salad, chip shop, grill, italian, carvery and desserts and I wanted EVERYTHING! I think I had about 3 plates full of food and I didn’t manage to get anything from the Italian or Carvery part, as I made sure I had room for dessert, there was a lot of choice there too and what we ate was definately worth the price, the drinks however I found expensive, as I only needed 2, but my partner needed more so between us it worked out ok. We went in the afternoon and it was fairly quiet and the staff were very friendly and we’ve already decided we’ll go again.

I have been to Taybarns several times. A few times for lunch and the same for dinner. I think I have tried most of what’s on offer. It is better at lunchtime as it’s less crowded. The food is also more plentiful. It’s great for kids as there’s no waiting you just go and get whatever you want. The food is basic and filling. I suppose they want you to fill up on potatoes and pasta rather then the meat items. The only thing that lets it down is the cleanliness. The tables always seem sticky, and the plates and cutlery could do with longer in the dishwasher. They are also quite slow at clearing tables, even when it’s quiet. I have always found the staff to be very polite and accommodating. For a meal with a group or a meal with kids it’s great. Not somewhere you’d go on a first date.

Great restaurant! The staff are always friendly even though at times they must feel like ripping customers and others members of staffs heads off. The food always taste great, free refills on soft drinks is great! There are only two negative comments I have. One, the air conditioning is always on and is bloody freezing! and Two, There is no Chinese food.

On a recent trip to visit friends, I went out to Taybarns for a cheap feed. If you’re not familiar with Coventry, it’s quite hard to find — but fortunately it’s painted bright orange to help you along the way. For £7.99, you get all you can eat. There are other offers for families and the like, so best to check the website first if you want to really get the most for your money. This place is certainly not about the quality of food, but the quantity and variety. On offer they have: salads, fish and chips, pizza, pasta, carvery, Indian, BBQ and a range of deserts. I have heard rumours of other food(Thai, namely) being on offer there, but perhaps they don’t have all of them all of the time. The best thing is probably the deserts; a variety of cakes and crumbles fresh from the over. And although the custard is made with water(weird!), the chocolate fudge sauce is outstandingly yummy. Go there just for a bowl hot chocolate stuff. Important to go here only when you’re very hungry.

Been there a couple of times, and had different experiences. If you go when it’s quiet then it is better. If it is busy, then it can be a bit of a free-for-all with people waiting for particular foods to come out. Everything is self service including the soft drinks, but the great thing is that you can have as much as you like. Desserts are pretty good, although most of the main food is a little bland but ok. Staff usually look a little stretched but are helpful and polite. Probably will go back eventually.

Taybarns is an all you can eat restaurant. It’s veery bright and canteen like. The staff are helpful but not exactly overly friendly. The food is ok. There is a large selection of food from salad bar and starters to pizza, curry, fish, jacket potatoes, roast, chineese. This is good as pleases eveyone but means the food is not really exciting. The desserts are good and a good choice.

If you’ve sharp elbows and like a variety of food then Taybarns may be for you. We’ve been several times and found it to be good value. However, when seated to capacity it’s a bit of a scrum and the staff struggle to cope. Taybarns comes from the Beefeater chain and this particular branch was converted from a Brewers Fayre. The layout is simple. On one side is a long counter featuring(from left to right) soup, salad, grilled burgers/sausages/fish/chicken, pizza, asian noodles/rice, carvery and desserts. There is usually a good choice of food and plenty of opportunity to eat fairly healthily although most people seem to have their plates piled high. On the other side are the tables which seat from two to ten. You pay at the door for your initial drink(or for an unlimited soft drink package) and a set price for the food. Prices(as at February 2009): Mon-Fri 11:30am-5:30pm: £5.95 Mon-Fri 5:30pm-Late: £7.95 Sat & Sun 11:30am-Late: £7.95 Children under 10: £4.50 Bank Holiday: £7.95 You then pick up a plate or bowl and cutlery and help yourself to whatever combinations you want. This is particularly good if you are in a party who like completely different things. To accompany the carvery there is the traditional roast potatoes, yorkshire puddings, gravy, stuffing etc. The meat is usually pork and turkey. To accompany the remainder of the food is rice, chips, potato wedges, roast vegetables and salad. There are usually two hot puddings(with custard and cream available) and a wide range of cold desserts including profiteroles. An ‘ice cream factory’ is available and children seem to delight in making the rudest shape possible with the ice cream. You can also find them pressed up against the glass watching the stir-fry chefs in amazement. Additional drinks can be ordered and paid for at any time from the staff members who are clearing away plates and cleaning tables. At busy times expect to queue(there are no reservations) and be prepared to be astonished at the amounts of food some customers can eat! High chairs are available for children and there is good disabled access. The car park is shared with the cinema next door and there is a small outdoor area for smokers.

I’ve been here twice now at different times of the day. The first time was mid afternoon and although the turnover wasn’t so quick, most of the food was still nice(just don’t expect the noodles to taste like chinese — this is very english) When we went over the christmas period it was very busy — we in fact just missed the BIG queue which built up very quickly(it’s a very popular place). The food was good and I enjoyed everything I ate. Remember though that this is pub grub and not a la carte — no fine dining here, but for the price, even if you went in, had a bowl of soup, roast dinner and a pudding then to my mind, you’ve had excellent value for money at £5.99. The staff on both occasions were very friendly and helpful, finding us a table for eight and six very quickly — even though they were busy. The bowls did run out but upon asking, they brought some more very quickly and courteously. Next time we’re in the midlands, we shall have another meal there.

I have only been here twice but have been very disappointed both times and won’t be going back. The restaurant is an all you can eat restaurant fetauring many different types of cuisine, chinese, pizza, carvery, salad bar, pasta etc etc. You pay on the way in then grab a plate and help yourselfm the concept is great however there never seemed to be any food ready and anything that was ready was being snapped up by the people waiting around to get some. The desserts are a lot better plenty of them waiting in a fridge and also an ice cream machine like the ice cream factory at pizza hut but overall its not the best, very cheap but not even worth that. Wouldn’t recommend.

I went here for the first time a couple of weeks ago and must say that i was very impressed. However upon my second visit was very disappointed. I went about 4.30 and a lot of the food was cold and looked like it had been there for hours, there was no cutlery, no plates, no bowls. They ran out of ice cream and the staff were very rude — advising me that they only had one paid of hands when i asked them for a bowl. As with most places that are All you can eat i think that it depends as to when you go — if its busy the food is going to be fresher as the turnover is quicker. If you are thinking of going i would go at peak times.
