Great service! Terrific last meal in London, literally. Savored each bite to extend every second of our trip to London. See my photo for my order. It was delish:)) xoxo

Decent enough, but needs a bit of a kick up the arse in terms of hygiene. One chipped cup, chipped tea-pot, dirty milk jug(replaced without an apology) and an extraneous mint leaf in the pot. Toast was barely brown… But edible. Chicken club sandwich was fine, but the wooden platter it came on was a bit worrying in the light of the other hygiene issues. … Definitely felt we were being pushed through, but since this is an airport that isn’t too surprising. Would I come again? Possibly.

The food here was amazing for an airport restaurant. Check at the door whatever expectations you would have for a Tex-Mex restaurant at Heathrow, because this place served an incredible breakfast. I would eat here regularly if this restaurant was near where I live in California. It’s that good.

For once I gave the Bridge bar( ) a miss and went for Giraffe, a gamble you understand as I look forward to my chicken in the Bridge as it is what marks the end of a busy day and when I’m tired and cranky I crave routine. None the less, Giraffe was closer to the gates and I was in a hurry, so, in I went. A waiter passes just as I find my seat with a burger destined for another table… it looks good enough to eat, so I order one(the Giraffe Burger with extra fried onion). A tense and long ten mins later the burger arrives, served with rough cut fries and a coke. Did the gamble pay off? was I missing my precious Bridge Bar deep fried chicken? Yes, totally worth it, spectacular burger, loved it, I’ll be back!

What a great surprise to find such good food at Heathrow airport! I had the«avec cheese» burger with avocado and it was really good. My husband had the Zuma Beach Salad with chicken and said that was good also. My favorite taste surprise was the Pimms Mojito Cooler — SO tasty and sweet! I loved it. Had we not been pressured for time, I would’ve certainly ordered a second mojito.

Gets the job done for breakfast in Terminal 1; I haven’t found *any* place there that really charms me.

You know what I really like when I’m at the airport. chaos. Which is handy since I was eating at Giraffe. Yes, I know. chainorama. This ain’t no fancy Terminal 5, you know, it’s the Anglo-Irish expressway. I’ve eaten here a few times and the food is fine, actually the super healthy veggie salad is quite good. But the service sucks. My waiter was an obnoxious French chap. The kind of server that likes to joke and jape with the customers, but is actually just a bit shit. He was so abrupt and shouty. Customers were arguing with other customers over places in the line. This is not the place to linger, they want you to eat and leave. Even though I had to wait an eternity to get the bill. What bothers me about this place is the African/Carribean themed décor. It’s a chain that thinks it’s the bloody United Colours of Benetton. They aren’t giving profits to charity… so why the heavy handed Americanised ethnic push?

Before boarding my 9 hour flight back to Chicago(sniff, sniff) I thought it would be wise to get some food in my stomach. Especially since I won’t touch airplane food with a 10 foot pole. Giraffe looked promising, although not sure it was any better than airplane food would have been. I decided on some vegetable gyoza, which was a bit too fried for my liking… if it’s even possible for anything to be too fired for my liking. And I also got a side of naan, which was actually more like pita bread. The service was pretty slow too– um, hello waitress… flight to catch! I nibbled on my disappointing food and found myself hungry again just an hour after takeoff.

Perhaps the best bit about Giraffe is it is one of the only restaurants in Terminal 1 where you get serviced by a waiter at your table. This comes in handy, especially if you’re travelling alone: with all the warnings about leaving one’s baggage unattended, how is one supposed to leave their baggage at a table in order to spend ten minutes in a queue to order a meal? Giraffe is a good place to stop off for the family, since they offer a range of burgers, meze platters and interesting salads. Some of their food is healthy too, and there’s a nice selection of smoothies and fresh juices. If flying is not your thing, you could just kick back and neck a few beers, Giraffe-style, though it’s probably best you don’t overindulge, unless you like the inside of airsickness bags.
