Cat & Fiddle Harvester

Love going to the harvester and have been to this one before. Always had good service but today have been served by someone who really couldn’t be bothered to take our order in full (meal plus dip and side became just meal without the extras)
It is a shame really.

As Harvesters go, this is quite a nice one. As always the salad bar is nice, though on my last visit they struggled to have enough bread rolls. The salad most days is pretty fresh, though also on occasions the onions/​cucumber can look dried out a bit.
They used to have a staff whom would greet and seat you as you came in, but looks as though they have got rid of this role. The last few times I visited, I felt that I was kept waiting standing by the door, whilst staff would do the best to avoid you.
The food seems to have got better with the recent refurbishment, and feel the prices are pretty good. free Soft drink refills have also been introduced which is also nice.

As Harvesters go, this one’s not bad on the whole — the building itself looks quite quaint and has lots of car parking, and the interior is ‘authentic Harvester’ with lots of nice nooks and crannies to sit in.
Unlike the previous reviewer, although I’ve been here quite a few times over the past few months (convenience more than anything else), I haven’t found the food that good. Sure, it’s served promptly and it’s not expensive, but in general I’ve found it dry and overcooked, regardless of what I’ve ordered.
By contrast, the salad bar is really good, but it is sited in a small area next to the grill so can get really crowded and a bit smoky.
I know it’s unfair to expect haute cuisine at a Harvester, but I always feel disappointed after a meal here.

This is very much a normal Harvester. Evrything that you would expect is there all present and correct, right down to the obligatory salad bar Which we all know that we take the mickey out of then as soon as no body is looking, we head straight over and pile out bowl right up!
The early Bird doscount makes for a super cheap early evening or lunch time meal and every time thay I have gone there, the food was freshly cooked and served up promtly (Which is handy for those of us heading in on a lunch hour)
They have just added a new evening menu which will perhaps add something a bit more event like to eating there at night.
