Lovely restaurant serving mainly south Indian food and some Gujarati type dishes… Real authentic Indian food. Would definitely recommend. The fact that you see Indian customers says it all…

Fantastic! Some of the tastiest indian food I’ve had and great prices. But… book early! As most people probably know, this is a sort of indian tapas experience, so you just sit down, get a drink and start ordering … and keep ordering… until you are sated :) The difference here, I found, was that the actual item sizes can be quite large, so it’s worth just getting a couple at a time, and working through. If it’s so fantastic, then why did I mark it down by a star… timing. They do the ‘two hour covers’ *thing*. I understand this from a business perspective, from my perspective I’m out for the evening and I hate the feeling that I’m running out of time. Make sure you have an idea of where you might like to move on to afterwards. And, the deserts — the ones we tried at least just didn’t really taste of anything. I wanted to get that over with and go back to just how fantastic the food was. The waiter happily talked through the menu and was also more than happy to answer any questions and provide(good) recommendations. Most definitely worth a visit — I hope to be back very soon.

A nice little place tucked away in cheadle village. This tiny place was packed to the brim. Seating only 40 covers, people had to wait in the rain to get a table. I’m told that it’s like this every day of the week. The menu is a lot to take in but showcases a range of street food from all across India. The food and service was good. Very flavourful and a good range of spices. Not greasy and very light, hence why I ordered 2 masala dosas. I ordered for mains the dhabba style chicken. This half chicken was very soft and succulent and had a chaat masala spicing to it, adding a nice tangy spicy flavour. Complimented with raita and a spicy masala sauce and hot naan. only thing was it was a little too cripsy on some parts of it. It was a good dish. A bit pricey at £12 compared to other dishes on the menu, however I would of preferred to get more small dishes from the tapas style menu. Service was very good and attentive, mains took a little long but with the amount of people they had in one seating, It jusitfies the wait. Will I be back? Yesm And will bring friends with me too. Very good experience and you should give it a go for yourself

We went to ITR on Tuesday and it was very busy. Its a small restaurant with just 40 covers but every space was taken. We had to wait about 10 minutes before our table was ready. If you are going, I highly recommend you book a table in advance. The waiter explained how the menu«worked». He explained that many of the dishes are kind of like tapas. What I went for was the Dahi Puri which was under the Street Food section. I then went for the Idly Vada from the Tiffin menu. Both of these were pretty small dishes. Under the Tiffin menu, I think if you choose something like the dosa it would be much more filling. The dahi puri was really tasty. You put each pastry straight into your mouth and its a mouth full of flavours! Yum. The next dish was the Idly Vada which was most unusual. Menu says its a mix between doughnuts and dumplings. It was kind of like a loose cake texture. It came with various sauces which it needed. It was more like a carrier of flavours. If you see my photos, you will see what looks more like a doughnut ring. I think this is like the 2 white ones but basically deep-fried. To be honest, I kind of wish I went for something else. The Idly Vada was not bad, just not really to my taste. The«main» I had was the ITR Lamb. Really tasty lamb curry. It came on a circular tray with the rice and a tiny amount of salad. With the lack of space, the circular trays didn’t really help — but that would’t be an issue normally. The salad was unusual as there was such as small amount. Either don’t have a salad or put more on. One thing I noticed was that no poppadoms on the menu — so no poppadoms and then usual chutney tray you get when you go for an Indian meal. Maybe its something you don’t get in South Indian food? (If you looking for the place on Google Maps, the restaurant is where the NatWest bank used to be. Its address is 2 Chapel Street).

We checked out the ITR on Tuesday night and I’ve got to say that it really lived up to the hype. My wife has been a couple of times before and had been telling me how good it was and after living in Indian for over a year of her life, it does need to be something pretty special to get such high praise from her. The restaurant is super small and there’s only 40 covers so definitely make sure you book ahead, in fact our table of 10 took up a fairly large part of the restaurant but we still felt comfortable and they were quite fair in not letting loads of extras in so everyone is elbow to elbow! The menu is broken down into small tiffin bites, a larger vegetarian section, starters and mains and the general plan is just to dig in and order what floats your boat. On our table we mixed it up with all sorts of combos — come had 2 starters, some had a number of dosas, some concentrated on just the main with sides, some(like me) has 3 smaller dishes — it was basically anything goes and this worked really well overall. I’d recommend the grazing starter which was a mix of bhel puri and panni puri(£6) bites, which I then followed up with a random combo of the masala dosa(£4) and a panner tikka kebab(£5) — overall good decisions and the best part about Indian cooking is that you don’t miss the meat(there are plenty of meat options if you’re that way inclined though) A great night out with great friends and some tasty food to boot — plus the bill with a tip and a lassi came to £20 which really wasn’t bad considering I was full to the brim. I can’t wait to go back, looking forward to them opening on lunch times soon(they won’t be able to get rid of me)

ITR is a very small place, far too small to cater for the throngs of folks who want to eat here. So my advice is to book well in advance to avoid disappointment. We ate on a Tuesday night and it was always at full capacity. If they moved to larger premises, I think they’d risk losing the unique dining experience, which feels like an ever-so-slightly cramped and bustling ‘classy canteen’, with its simple wooden furniture, bamboo ceiling and metal tableware. The menus(used as paper tablecloths) are well presented — the street food grazing options for starters are split between ‘veg warm’, ‘veg cool’ and ‘non-veg warm’. There are grilled kebabs, ‘Tiffin meets ITR’ dishes, Indo-Chinese options and main courses(‘Tiffin’) so you’re really spoilt for choice. The vegetarian Grazing Platter was light, flavoursome and gorgeous. For the main course it was Butter Chicken with roti bread. Again, it exceeded expectations, I had to have extra roti to wipe up every last drop of that sauce. It was out of this world. I didn’t have any food envy of my group’s dishes for a change. Instead of feeling uncomfortably full as is usual with standard curry houses, after this meal I felt completely satisfied and as happy as Pharrell Williams. Including a serving of a creamy Lassi to drink, my meal came to less than £20. A lively setting, stunning food, friendly service and reasonable prices. If only it was possible to give a six star rating. Cheadle, I’m insanely jealous of you.

The Indian Tiffin Room is the place to go if you want to eat authentic Indian food in cosy surroundings. This place is very popular, we went on a Tuesday night and it was rammed. The menu is really interesting with a good and unusual selection of starters, Indian pancakes and main courses. I started with the paneer pakodas. which were delicious, basically they were chunks of paneer cheese battered and fried, they tasted really good and were accompanied by a tasty mint dip. Next I tried a masala dosa, this is an Indian pancake made from lentils and stuffed with a yummy spiced potato filling. It came with coconut chutney and a tomato based sauce. Finally I tried the dahl which was really creamy and the nan that accompanied it was extremely fresh. The service was friendly and helpful throughout. Would definitely go back.

Authentic Indian food, loved the ambience although it could do with a bigger space. Service was excellent and quick!

Popular. Insanely popular. Getting a weekend table here is ridiculous, although it is a very small place. Bravo on them for taking a different tack: the«talking point» of the menu is the wide range of indian street food you don’t see at your average BIR. Expect a range of different, very well-made, dosa, idli and vada to start your meal. Especially nice were the vada(doughnuts) and the dipping sauces they came with, as well as some puffed rice thing I’ve forgotten the name of. The mains come with rice or roti, and are pretty decent. Not too huge(we left sated but not stuffed), and with a good balance of chilli heat. The rice was a bit bland though. Staff were really professional, friendly, and helpful throughout — they’re making an effort in this area and it shows. Prices are very good for this quality of cooking.
