Most of the time the Lewis is good for food but the last few times I have been there it has been void of atmosphere and the food has not been up to scratch.

One pub I would definitely avoid, go to The Gwaelod instead Staff in The Lewis are miserable and rude. Staff at The Gwaelod are completely the opposite, friendly and serves up top food and top ales.

The Lewis Arms is a tidy little pub that can be found in the heart of Tony-Wine-Glass. It’s also a handy treat if you take a jaunt up the Taff Trail. In fact I thoroughly recommend the walk for a lovely afternoon autumnal trip, especially if you can face trudging up the hill to see Castell Coch, which looms over Tongwynlais. That climb will make your pint of Brains Dark afterwards in the Lewis Arms taste even better and give you an excuse to tackle a bag of the mysterious«Q» pork scratchings(Winner of Pork Idol 2009… no I’m not making it up — ). In fact we stayed for more than one pint, you can always catch the bus back to Cardiff from just outside the pub. The Lewis Arms is a friendly Brains owned pub that has a good reputation for grub as well as having the usual Sky Sports and darts facilities.

Staff are friendly, and there is a good selection of food available on the menu, at reasonable prices. :)
