I had heard good things but i was a bit disappointed. I had to wait fairly long for my food and as I was hungry I was watching the clock. No complaints about the beer, little pricey but in canterbury its to be expected often.

We went to the Parrot last Sunday. A friend took us there as she really likes the outside seating area and the pub has a great atmosphere. It has a bit of a hobbit feel in there as the ceilings are low which was lovely. We ordered drinks and the staff were very knowledgeable on types of gin etc and very friendly. We decided to order food, the roasts were all out as we had come later in the day but they were happy to serve us from the regular menu which we were happy with. I had the crayfish linguine. It was delicious but the sauce was slightly sweet, I ate all of it but would maybe try something else next time. My SO had some huge monstrosity of a burger that he was very proud to have consumed in its entirety. He rated that highly too. My friend ordered a chicken Caesar salad. It was a huge salad with more extras than actual lettuce which was impressive. She started eating and realised her chicken was all pretty raw; lots of it still clear looking. She picked around the chicken after that. We told the staff and they were really happy to take it back. We had that meal refunded and they seemed mortified. The chef sent through his apologies. Apart from that slight hiccup I thought the place was lovely and if im in Canterbury again might pop in.

Got a chance to try this place because of a Tour Group. This was the first time this group used The Parrot, so the gal told us she wasn’t sure what to expect… well, let me tell you, it was FAB! We were late as we could have been, the driver didn’t get directions from their Company, I guess. Fortunately the folks at the Parrot waited until we got there before they made lunch. The staff was friendly, gracious, and the food was delicious. My sister and I both had the fish and chips — very well done. Super impressed. We even had dessert, she had the Vanilla Ice Cream and I had the Cheesecake. Both were quite yummy. The place was quaint and comfortable. It was exactly what you want of a pub. Even better, because it was the best service we’ve had since we’ve been in town. Every other pub wants you to order at the bar then they slam it in front of you. It looked like they had plenty of staff to serve the individual tables.(Which I prefer, I work hard for my money, I like to be served) I digress. .. Anywho. Loved. This. Place!

Really liked this pub — just mind your head! Lonely Planet recommended this pub, and described it as one of the oldest pubs in Canterbury(I forget exactly how old it is), but if you’re tall you have to watch the low ceilings. It’s pretty amazing on charm though, and you’ll find the most amazing burger here — but order it the right way: a veggie burger with an additional meat patty added. You probably won’t be able to finish it… It has a block of goat cheese on it as big as a burger patty, plus a portobello mushroom, avocado, and all the other usual burger fixings. Delicious! Other than that you’ll find a very nice, large outdoor area in the back that is glorious on a sunny day, some local beers on cask, and just a really good feel to the place. It’s not on the main drag in Canterbury, but it’s a very quick walk away, so get off the beaten path and check it out!

This is a truly delightful English inn. Before entering read the plaquethis place was almost demolished! Excellent ale, great choice of wine and delicious food. The staff are polite and never stop working. If not serving they are cleaning, which is an encouraging sign. The toilets are clean which again demonstrates high standards(by the way check out the ‘spy hole’ on the old front door as you go into the gents!) The interior is quirky and fun and there is a large beer garden at the rear. This is probably the best(and one of the least frequented) pubs in Canterbury. Highly recommended to locals and visitors alike.
