This place is located right next to the river and you have to cross a little bridge to get into it… very romantic I must say. Considering I was there for Valentines Day, so far so good.
Now, here’s where we get to the point where I knocked the rating down. Upon entering and telling them we’d booked two months ago for a romantic Valentines meal, they informed us that they’d booked our table for another party at 8:30pm so we’d have to be finished in an hour and a half. Considering the effort we’d gone to to to book it early and have a romantic evening, to be told you need to make sure you’re out by a certain time took some of the shine off the evening and a rushed experience for us.
But whatever. We told them we understood and sat down to order. The service was good, with attentive and polite waiters checking on us enough to make sure we had everything we wanted but not so much that they became annoying. The food was delicious. We ordered lamb shanks and some sort of dessert (the wine has blurred the memory a tad) and it was all fantastic. But by about 8:15pm, we were gulping down wine and asking for the bill. Not the best end to a romantic evening.
If you’re visiting on a normal evening where they’re expecting a decent crowd, then you’ll have a fantastic time. If you’re visiting on what you know is going to be a packed night, like Valentines, make sure you make plans for after and don’t expect to stay here all evening.

The food and atmosphere is simply amazing! I’ve eaten here a few times and each time was top notch. The service is amazing and their wine list is extensive.
They often have jazz nights where there’s a live band performing inside — check online to find out what days its on!
I’d recommend the lamb shanks, they were perfection on a plate! It’s a little expensive but worth it without a doubt.
I’d recommend this to anyone who wants to splash out on a meal :)

Nice location by the river with outdoor tables (inside very nice as well). We had some Pimm’s (very good) and a pizza (which was good, but not remarkable). Service was friendly and prompt.

This is going to be a short review only because I cannot believe no one has written one yet but I’ll hopefully return to a write a longer one after my next visit.
So one of my flatmates who has lived in Canterbury for a few years, introduced me to this place. We went on one of the weeknights so we got a student discount (always good, yay!). The place was quite classy– unlike what I expected given where it was located. The ambiance was good and the noise level was rather low. It has been a few weeks since I went there so I forget what my flatmate ordered but I had the oven roasted chicken and it was a wonderfully filling and delicious meal! I wouldn’t have minded dessert but I was not left with room for any.
I’ll definitely return to try other items on their menu and maybe even leave room for dessert next time! So to summarise– Like the place, the servers were efficient and friendly, the food was fresh and yummy and the atmosphere was good and would’ve worked well for a date too. Also, they have an outdoor dining area that would be quite lovely during summer as the seating is near the river– if it ever gets warm enough for it this year!
There is also a parking lot right in front of the restaurant, that is free after 9:00pm on weeknights.
