Wrestlers is a great spot to get some Thai food if you find yourself near the beehive shopping center. Great food options for vegan and gluten free! However, the cider selection is limited to aspals.

The Wrestlers, where British pub atmosphere and Thai cuisine come together in Cambridge. It’s located along a busy stretch of Newmarket Road, walkable by 20 minutes from the main part of town or accessible via car park near the superstore. The building itself functioned as a public house as early as the 1800s, but has since been updated in furnishings and food fare – Thai, to be exact. With the exception of pub Prawn Crackers, there are no starters, just mains. Straightforward and no frills. Find your seat, order at the bar. Each plate will cost between £9 and £11. We both got Pud Thai; one with vegetables and cashews and the other with beef. The portions are large and I had to pack the rest of mine in a takeaway box. As it’s a pub, prepare for noise and difficulty finding seats around dinnertime. Luckily we came earlier for lunch. I didn’t order a drink this time, but they have the standard selection of cask ales and cidres to go with your meals.

Longer wait, but definitely worth the food. Good beers on tap(meaning they had cider), the green curry was spot on! The shrimp chips at the beginning were a nice touch. Loved the odd décor, and if I actually lived around there, would totally stop in all the time!

Simply put, the best Thai Curry in Cambridge hands down. The favors are unmatched and very authentic. Family owned and their attention to details can’t be missed. Been dozens of times and will miss it greatly when I move. A must stop for any Thai lovers.

By far my favourite Thai restaurant in the Cambridge area. I must have tried most dishes on the menu and they are all tasty, prepared with fresh ingredients(okay, perhaps not the seafood). The best for me, however, are the curries. Make sure you get yourself some of their crunchy prawn crackers while you wait.

We ordered take out from here on a visit with friends in Cambridge. Now I always want prawn crackers with my Thai that I order here in the US. And I was introduced to the idea of ordering«extra veg». This is at the top of the list for every return trip!

Stumbled across this restaurant while in Cambridge. Thought it was a traditional English pub from the outside, but obviously it wasn’t. Great Thai food. When they something is spicy on their menu, they mean it! However the dish was fantastic and would recommend to anybody.

Oh wow! This is quite simply a brilliant place to eat. The food is honest simple Thai food; small menu, no starters, desserts or frills. More like a Thai café really. But perfect sized portions and really, really, really tasty. I guarantee once you eat there you’ll definitely go back again(and again). Décor is simple ordinary wooden chairs and tables; you don’t need to book. Oh and they do takeaway too. Modestly priced, particularly for a Thai restaurant(£9−10 for your meal including rice; drinks average price). Parking easy, across the road is Tesco car park. Try it you won’t be disappointed.

We live in the Toronto area and were visiting Cambridge, England with my sister and brother in law from South Africa. We are used to very authentic ethnic food in Toronto because of the makeup of the city. We are usually cautious about going to ethnic restaurants outside of major centres like London or New York. The food here was excellent and authentic. And the restaurant took pity on us and kept the kitchen open after closing hours for us. Very accommodating!

This is my favorite thai place since coming to England, even if they don’t have my favorite dish of Thai Beef Salad over sticky rice… But the food is good. Love the atmosphere,(before moving here I thought a pub was a pub and a thai food place was a thai food place.) I’ve been here twice now and gotten two different curry dishes, both delicious. Must try restaurant.

The other reviews are positive, but I think The Wrestlers deserves a bit better. This is superb Thai food made with fresh ingredients. This trip I had red curry with pork. The sauce was so wonderful, I would have been happy with just sauce and rice. But the pork and vegetables were done just right and very tasty. I’ve never been able, in 4 – 5 visits, to order anything but curry, though I have to say my companion’s Pad Thai looked so good that I may have to rethink that strategy. If its a nice day, as it was yesterday, you can have a walk by the river(just behind Tesco) after lunch. Awesome.

Nothing fancy, basic limited menu, fresh ingredients. Overall they make tasty thai food, for a pretty good price. Not amazing, but worth it.

What’s this? A pub that serves Thai food? Kind of odd to find that in the UK, let alone in the US. What’s not so wierd is the fact that I’ve been to Thailand and you can actually order food at all of the bars while watching live Muay Thai fights. But, that’s besides the point. My brother in law brought us here while showing us around Cambridge. Being a yank, I wasn’t sure what to expect when walking through the door. We got there in the evening around 7ish. The place was packed and lively. As we walked through the door it seemed like the music stopped and all heads turned toward us. For a quick second I thought I was going to have to start singing«My baby takes the morning train».(Ok, that’s a reference to the movie«Eurotrip»). We found a two-seater spot near the fireplace and grabbed an extra chair to accomodate the 3 of us. No worries. The menu was direct and to the point. It had around 30 items or so and explained their contents in plain english. I was a little dissapointed that I didn’t see papaya salad, but oh well, what are you gonna do? It still was nice to be at a pub that serves Thai Food. I ordered a seafood dish and a pint of Foster’s. Yep, Australian for beer. And it went down nicely. The taste of the food was outstanding. That’s probably because there was a real Thai person cooking it in the back. Haha! I say this because there is a running joke about Korean restaurants here(in the US) where there is a Mexican guy cooking the food in the back. My experience here was outstanding. This is a gem in Cambridge and if you’re visiting you should check it out.

Just had a great Thai meal at the Wrestlers. Lovely spicy, spicy food and we got a little dish of red chillis on the side, which weren’t really necessary. Nice atmosphere and mixed crowd.

The Wrestlers is an old Cambridge tradition. Good beer and great Thai food in a traditional pub setting — highly recommended. I have been a happy customer for over 15 years now…

Have never been here for the drink as such, but have eaten the thai food and it is delicious. Bit of a grimey, working mens vibe to the pub but worth visiting for the food. Grfeat thai green curry and very cheap!

The best thai in town. It has a limited menu and serves what can be suggested as a ‘pub thai’ menu. The wrestlers though is the best thai burry pub in town. Try the hot thai special, as dish that I have not found anywhere else. It is really spicy and wonderful on a cold night. I would certainly recommend this for a good lunchtime place.

Before all the major building work creating Tesco and the other large warehouse stores took place on Newmarket Road, The Wrestlers was one of the best kept secrets in Cambridge. Sporting a Thai menu, before it became so commonplace, I used to visit a couple of local companies there and would almost go out of my way to organise a visit around lunchtime so we could go to The Wrestlers. The exterior is deceptive — since being on a major, main road doesn’t really lend itself to delicate décor and the exterior is somewhat offputting. Inside it is not exactly 5-star furnishings, but in the last few years they have made it much more of a foodies pub — removing things like pool tables to allow for more restaurant space. The tables are organised so as to try and maximise the number of diners who can fit in. The food is a very good selection of Thai dishes — the curries are on the hot side — and I can recommend pretty much anything from the menu. The prices are a little high compared to average pub food prices, but the quality is excellent. Parking used to be a nightmare but with a retail park in front and a big Tesco behind, you can find a space fairly easily.
