Revolution

Clearly this not the place to go to if you are by yourself. I was ignored and had to constantly have to wave staff down just to get a drink and order my food. Once my food arrived it was just average. Not worth the wait. I am never returning and I will certainly let everyone I know about my experience.

Walking from the city centre to the train station we popped in here for a quick drink, not realizing that there was an All Bar One down the road.
The atmosphere was fun… Lots of students, Christmas parties taking place etc.
We grabbed a cocktail each, for roughly £7.
I wasn’t impressed… They didn’t taste great, quite watery in fact.
I wouldn’t go back, but also went there knowing I’m not really a Revolution fan.

Nice rooftop bar. We stopped in for a drink and ended up eating a late lunch. The food was ok but the patio stole the show. We had a great time.
On Mondays they have a half price food special so the food bill was reasonable. No such luck on the drinks.

This review is for the cocktail class at revolution, rather than the whole bar (although maybe the main bar is just as fun!?)
My friends and I were given a really fun cocktail making class here during a hen night. They started by giving us each a glass of pink bubbles while the two lads, Paul and Ash, showed us how to make woo woos, long island iced teas, raspberry mojitos and cosmopolitans. Then each of us took it in turns to go behind the counter and try making each cocktail. Once we had got a handle of the basics (they were pretty easy cocktails after all) they let us loose with games (for example who can make the best ‘purple rain’ — the worst one drinks a shot of chilli vodka etc.) I made a bison grass mojito, and loved it!
It was sooo fun! The lads put up with our madness, all our innuendo and our insistence on using penis straws rather than the normal variety. They even washed up our penises so we could take them with us to the next part of the hen night!
* I was reeeeally glad that we made a couple of each cocktail and then shared them, rather than making one each of every cocktail. I’m a lightweight and making/​drinking ⁶⁄₇ cocktails would have killed my liver BUT I can imagine some heavier drinkers might’ve felt cheated by the sharing mentality!
** We had the whole of the upstairs bar for our crazy group… and they even let us ride on the life size cow. It was such a giggle!

Ich war am Abend da. Es war voll aber nicht überfüllt. Ich fand es für einen Club sehr hell dort. Die Cocktail pitcher waren vom preis günstig und geschmacklich eher mäßig. Tanzen kann man schon allerdings wird man ständig von turstehern aufgefordert sich woanders hinzustellen oder wegzugehen. stehen darf man dort nirgends ;)

Having spent 2 hours in this bar, I can only testify the huge choice of alcool available. From champagne to vodka through the rum, you should find your own.

Ordered food which turned up cold would walk on past this bar one word SHIT

IF YOU ARE YOUNG AND PRETTY AND WANT YOUR HAIR SET ALIGHT, THEN VISIT THIS BAR. On Saturday, my friend and myself siimply walked into the establishment and up to the bar. We sat down and minutes later smelt smoke and a nearby male customer screamed that my friends hair was alight and basically, saved her head of hair, which is very long. The still smouldering match was in her hair. We looked around to the bar and two woman who were sat there when we arrived had disappeared. My friend asked the manager to view the CCTV and HE REFUSED.
She has informed the police and will be taking action against the bar/​Manager. His attitude was disgusting — he actually said ‘well i can’t do anything’ which isn’t true.
It is actual bodily harm to set alight someone’s hair, and by not attempting to identify the women who did it, he is allowing them to do it again, or perhpaps he knew them? I doubt this is the first time they have done this. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE

Ich war letzten Samstag dort Gast. Man kann die obere Empore als «Seperat» buchen und dort Gäste empfangen und bewirten. Dort waren wir untergebracht. Zum Tanzen kann man dann runtergehen.
Das Essen (Fingerfood) war absolut essbar, bot allerdings wenig überraschendes. Zur Deko fiel dem Personal eigentlich auch gar nichts ein.
Die Musik war nicht wirklich nach meinem Geschmack, darüber kann man ja bekanntlich streiten. Der Roofgarden wurde uns als High-​Light angekündigt, aber dort gab es nichts zu sehen als den Blick auf das Hochhaus gegenüber.
Insgesamt so la-​la, aber es war brechend voll, was nicht gerade für die Konkurrenz in Cambridge spricht.

At last, a decent club/​bar in Cambridge. What an improvement on the old ‘Rat and Parrot’ that used to be in this building!
However — they have recently changed their pricing structure over to the ‘London’ prices, which I find rather unfair, especially in a student town where they would get plenty of business from cheap drinks deals. However, with the ‘London’ price structure, it’s still pretty reasonable if you have their Revolution loyalty card.
And the cocktails themselves are pretty good. It does take up the bar staff’s time so service can sometimes be slow, but it’s worth it in the end.
There are three floors with really excellent music on the ground floor.
The food in here is also good value and well presented.
A great place for a night out — you can combine eating, drinking and dancing all in the one place!

A trendy bar located in the heart of Cambridge, drinks are reasonably prices and cocktails are very tasty. The two levels mean that there is plenty of room, and it is great to have a quieter bar with a place to dance above it, allowing you to take a break from dancing and catch up with friends when your feet get tired.
The décor is perhaps a little ‘boudoir-​esque’, however this all adds to the atmosphere of an intimate bar. This is a great place to go for after work drinks, and the food they serve is also pretty good too — with many 2 for 1 offers on.
Don’t forget your ID though — they are ruthless at ID-​ing anyone who looks under 30, and it would be a shame not to get in as it is a great place to have a great night.

This really is a place where you can start your evening with food and possible stay there until they close.
If you are lucky and the wheather is nice enough I can highly recommend eating on the roof. The food is really nice, burgers, curry and all kinds of dishes.
Later on the cocktails are alright (although they give you the worst headache). The music is typical dance music.
i have seen whole groups of hen nights celebrating there and it is always packed.
As a bloke be aware that there is a dress code. Friends of mine were not let in because of flip flops and tshirts.

Revolution is one of the newest additions to the city’s bars and club and it is just the place to be on a Saturday night. From the 5 stylish bars and restaurant to the vodka terrace and clubrooms, you are definitely not going to be disappointed. The lasting impression starts as you enter the four-​storey building. The bar décor is unfussy but elegant, white leather chairs, wooden polished floors, little couches scattered around the table.
I went on a Tuesday night after much hype from friends about it. Tuesday nights offer the cheapest drink, 2 cocktail for £6.50 and a pint of beer about £2.50 and you have opportunities of sampling cocktail. Well you can’t blame a girl for wanting the cheapest night. There was no point going for a drink on an empty stomach, so we decide to grab a bite in the restaurant before having our drink. My healthy conscious self made me order the healthy option of vegetarian meal, but after a taste of my friend’s bacon burger, I still regret my choice now. No offence to veg. meal, but the burger was so succulent and the strange sauce added to it made it like nothing I have ever tasted.
We went to the bar for good old vodka, I was a little broke so all I wanted was a bottle of vodka and boy was that what I got. Instead, I was introduced to the vodka cocktail; I went for the Bison Grass Mojito. I know it may not seem the best name for a cocktail but that was a darn tasty drink, it was a mixture of vodka with rum and lemon grass. We sampled other vodka black jack, pear drop and glacer mint as we watched with interest the experienced staff shake, mix and juggle to make classic cocktails. We were also offered the opportunity to learn how to mix cocktails, but we thought it was best to leave it for another day.
By the time we were done, the last thing on my mind was to go for a dance however tempting it seemed with the loud music booming from the clubroom. I went to have a look, in case I decided to come back some other time for a night out. The large dance floor was well impressive and I did make up my mind there and then to make this one of my regular places for a night out.
The experience was great and the food was affordable. I have been there a couple more times, Saturday nights being the best, but Tuesdays are my favourite and I guess you know why.

Revolution’s appearance on the Cambridge scene is long overdue. I really enjoy it. I even have a loyalty card…
The music is good (although the top floor is sometimes a bit leftfield –not as in the band), and the food is really tasty and well priced. Service is great, the staff seem to have more fun than the punters!
Although, I’ve never enjoyed the sticks of vodka shots, but then that has never stopped me ordering them and playing roulette…
