I’ve been to this Zizzi restaurant and the other one in Bristol, Cabot Circus(twice). I’ve not had a good meal at either one any time! One thing is clear at either restaurant they do not know how to cook a Risotto, until my most recent visit(a friend’s birthday and their choice) I had forgotten that I had a Risotto in the Cabot Circus restaurant too. Both times now it was more like rice pudding/soup! They even tried to re-make it and it was still a mess! Service was pretty poor, there were quite a few of us and they did not put on enough staff to cover our table with even O.k. service. Bare minimum. Our food took forever as well due to a large party(they knew in advance there would be a lot of us) I would stay clear, in my opinion there are better Italian restaurants in Bristol.

Me and my boyfriend came here for a Valentine’s meal and they had a special menu going on. This place serves up Italian food, of which tastes good, but really similar to other chains like Ask and Prezzo. In fact, I wouldn’t be able to differentiate between them, as they all have a very standard menu that tastes good. The atmosphere here is alright, again, a very standard, clean and comfortable décor that I wouldn’t be able to differentiate between other Italian chains. A place that’s just so-so, with nothing much to make it stand out.

No matter how hard I try, I always get this mixed up with Prezzo(cept there ain’t no Prezzo in Bristol), largely because of the name. So once again, hopefully I’m reviewing the right place!(Worry not, I’m pretty sure I am). This is a wicked place to go for a good old catch up with a bunch of mates. Log on to one of the many voucher sites on the internet(including money saving expert) and you should be able to pick up some kind of print out voucher to give you a two for one deal or something similar. This makes things very cheap indeed. In fact, I got a yummy thin crust vegetarian pizza, garlic bread and a glass of vino for less than a tenner(which is usually about my threshold). There was even enough left to share a tiramisu with a pal. This is a nice light and airy Zizzis, which isn’t too rammed with people but also isn’t too dead in terms of the vibe.

I know it’s an unimaginative chain restaurant, but I really love Zizzi’s — their pizzas are just so tasty! The Calzone Clarissa is a stand out favourite for me, but on my recent visit to this branch I tried the Rustica Mezzo E Mezzo, which I have to say was equally delicious. This particular restaurant has a cosy feel to it and it’s great at lunchtimes as you’ll have pretty much the whole place to yourself, so you’re food will be served super quick. The staff are all very friendly and on the whole there’s just a really nice relaxed atmosphere. Also, did I mention how good the pizzas are?

Zizzi won’t be the most exciting restaurant you’ll ever at but you’re guaranteed to have a good time for a reasonable price. The waiters are welcoming, friendly and work exceptionally hard to make sure you’re not left with an empty glass or plate for too long. The menu doesn’t seem to change very often(I’ve been twice in the last year and been offered the same menu) but what they do have is tasty and filling. I particularly like the calzones here which are packed full of cheese and vegetables. If you’re trying to save money I’d avoid the olives and breads which aren’t particularly special and will whack up the price of your bill. Try and save room for pudding. Their chocolate melt is worth the wait!

A chain, of course, with restaurants also in Clifton Village and Cabot Circus, though I’ve only been to the one here on the Triangle. The interior is large and welcoming with a bar where you can relax before being seated, and also fairly uniquely for Bristol, a heated back garden dining area. The menu is, as you’d expect, fairly standard, with the usual pizzas and pastas at around £8, with more adventurous meat and seafood choices at just over a tenner. Garlic bread starters are good to share and cost only a couple of quid. The atmosphere here is warm enough, especially if you can get a seat outside on a good day, and the food is decent — this is one of the better chain choices in the city.

A nice branch of the reliable pizza/pasta chain, the menu has all the favourites and service is good. Pasta specials sometimes provide something a little different from the norm, such as musroom ravioli with rocket dressing, which was delicious, while pizzas are tasty if unoriginal! It’s a big place and rarely full, so for atmosphere it’s not always great, but a good option for a mid-week dinner.
