Regarding the review below…
If Christine was asking whether you plan to have children, I expect this was not to stop you adopting a cat, but to make sure that you got the right cat for you and your family.
Some cats can only cope with quiet homes, and some can’t cope with being handled (unintentionally roughly) by children. On the other hand, some cats are really relaxed and tolerant of little hands pulling tails and grabbing at them.
Surely you wouldn’t want to adopt a cat and then find that it bit and scratched small children?
The Moggery does a fantastic job rescuing cats, making sure they get any medical treatment they may need, and matching them to good homes. There’s lots of cats there desperately needing homes, so if some aren’t suitable for your circumstances, there’s bound to be others that will be.

I was a volunteer at the Moggery for about three years and have 5 cats from there myself. I’m very much of the opinion that you should be chosen by the cats, not vice versa and saw all too often the heartbreak from volunteers and Christine (who is also a volunteer, giving up her home to the charity) when we’d have people come in and ask for cats who were not suitable for them, or even worse browse around and find none of them suitable because they were the wrong colour, character etc etc. It’s not like B&Q where you chose from a big selection off a shelf: if Christine was unwilling to let an adoption take place there was a very good reason and yes, if people don’t like what is said, of course that is interpreted as rudeness.
The Moggery is for cats to be rehomed; if homes are not considered suitable then it’s a real shame, but there were reasons. I was actually at the Moggery when the incident below happened, and know there are two sides to it. I also heard Christine’s regret about the situation — she wants cats adopted and rehomed successfully more than any potential adopter can imagine.

We have today chosen two cats from the Moggery. What a fantastic organisation, the cats are so well loved and cared for, I had to take my toddler along so that we could make sure we chose cats who weren’t intimidated by him. Thank you, Christine, and all your helpers for making this such an easy and enjoyable first time experience with excellent advice and guidance.

The Moggery is a cat sanctuary that is always looking for volunteers to clean up after the cats, feed them, and give them lots of love and attention. They also get a lot of kittens. The woman who runs it is absolutely lovely, and has a lot of rules for who are and who aren’t allowed to adopt a cat or kitten, so that they go to the best homes. I’ve volunteered here myself, and the people I worked with were all lovely, so I recommend it for all cat lovers.
