I came here when working at The Marble Factory. There’s very little else around this area in the way of dinner options, I couldn’t even spot a kebab shop and didn’t have high hopes at all for a nutritious dinner at a Wetherspoon’s. I was very pleasantly surprised, Mexican Mondays was in full swing and I ordered the naked burrito with bbq pulled pork, £4.99 with a soft drink. It arrived within 10 minutes and was pleasingly presented. One of my fears was that it would be a really light salad and wouldn’t be filling but there was a perfect balance of rice, meat, guac, salsa and salad leaves so my hunger was satisfied. For a Wetherspoons, for £4.99, in this neck of the woods and at 10pm on a Monday night I was really pleased.

It’s a spoons, all be it a bit more expensive than the local ones and a more upmarket clientele from the normal nutters you find in a high street spoons. The food is still bog standard microwaved stuff. The booze selection is good though.

Not good. Great location, minimalist pub-style non-service and dry, simple, ordinary, and not good food. Avoid.

A popular jaunt for communtors headin home(dare I say even too work!) and many people planning a crazy weekend that starts at spoonies before heading off somewhere on the train. I have to walk by this place every day, and I used to come in here quite alot, for the free Wi-Fi more than anything else, but it realy is nothing special. The outside gives off an open and promise of a new and modern venue, put inside it is like any other weatherspoons, maybe even more dark and dingy. The food in this particular one is pretty dire, I ordered a beer and a burger one day and it said served with chips, I literally got about 5 chips! and they were pretty cold! I know the food isn’t gomet, but I would expect a little better. A weatherspoons to avoid, head 10 minutes into town and there are so many places that are much better.

A weird one this — I thought that not enough people knew, cared or lived near this Weatherspoon’s pub located in the corporate hell(by which I mean the tall, faceless buildings that must surely be more or less a tomb for the people who have to answer phones inside them all day long) that is Temple Quay, near Temple Meads station. In fact, I thought the only purpose of this place is to make it as easy as possible to get absolutely trousered without walking more than a few metres or spending a fortune after a day spent in the workplaces that surround this pub. But, no, it’s packed all day long and all day night apparently — I am, if nothing else, thorough with my research of drinking establishments. Yes, the beer, cider and food is incredibly cheap, but it’s so out of the way, is filled with toothless drinkers, sports pundits of all types, plus it smells a little of old people and wee(my genuine experiences), that you’d think this place would bomb. Check it out next time for a ‘real’ taste of Bristol.

This Weatherspoons is tucked away behind Temple Meads, in between towering office blocks in this relatively new business district. It’s safe to say that unless you work, live or have been given a tip about it, it’s indeed unlikely that you’ll know this place is here. It’s nice enough though, with a large seating area and long bar, offering all the main Weatherspoons treats. There’s a slight transitory feeling due to the departure board for the Temple Meads trains, but I’m not sure many people waiting for a train will know to come here instead paying the(extortionate!) prices of the station bar. I came in on a busy Saturday afternoon one time, and the service was painfully slow on that occasion, but the other few times I’ve visited I’ve had no complaints.

This Wetherspoons is popular with commuters, builders and locals in the developing area of Temple Quay/St Philips. It’s often used as a surrogate waiting room for train travellers and serves this purpose well as there’s always cheap booze, cheap grub and wireless internet on offer. As Wetherspoons go, this isn’t the most interesting building, but the staff are reasonably helful and it’s quite a cheery place to come for a pint. If you’re hungry try the beer and burger, great offer.

This is a rather strange Westerspoon’s sitting in a bizarre spot. Despite its central location, most people won’t be aware of its existence; the reason being that it’s located on a square in the Temple Way financial area. It’s a typical Wetherspoon’s offering cheap beer and food, one added bonus being the outdoor seating, though this does offer views of a load of office buildings. For this reason, it pretty much caters exclusively to the local workers, though the other notable patrons are people who are wishing to waste time whilst waiting for a train from Temple Meads, as it shows arrival and departure info on a screen inside the pub. To this end, it’s a better choice than the station bar, though whether or not that counts as damning with faint praise is up to you to decide!
