I’m never particularly impressed with this place, I used to like the lounges but they have recently changed the menu and it’s not as varied or interesting. I had mac and cheese on this visit and it was pretty bland and at 8.50 it was overpriced too!

Nice atmosphere and décor, friendly staff. I had pork Milanese and my other half had the Mac and cheese with bacon, the food is nicely presented. However the Mac and cheese was very bland and the bacon that cost an extra £1.50 was floppy and a bit sweet and its smokeyness was a bit kippery. The Pork Milanese was ok but the spaghetti and sauce it came with was really under seasoned. All in all for 2 mains and a beer & a coke at £26.80 I expected the food to be better — may just be an off day here so won’t write the place off completely but with the star and dove just down the road and similarly priced for their bar menu I think I’ll be spending my money there instead.

A good place to eat and drink, great staff and relaxed atmosphere, a place I have been many times and continue to use — no frills, what you see is what you get

Banco Lounge serves a wide range of food, cakes, tapas, coffee, beer and cocktails. In short, there really is something here for everyone. At night time the whole place is lit up with candles in a cosy and personable air, which is romantic, comfortable, classy and relaxed. I’m a massive fan of everything that this little local ‘chain’ of cafes/bars has to offer. The Lounge Bars are a wonderful invention, and I look forward to them spreading all over in a Starbucks-like rash. Yay for expansion. One of my favourite things about this chain of cafes is the interior design. It’s completely to my taste; think old churchy interiors with cosy sofas, candles and chit chat-able tables. The food and drinks here are wonderful; slightly on the expensive side, perhaps, but I’ve always found that it’s worth every penny. A choice selection. Go and enjoy.

If you’re one for rustic-style chain pubs, Banco Longe may well float your boat. Boasting a certain wooded charm, the pub is definitely going in for the relaxed, fruit-bowls-and-plants bohemian vibe. Paradoxically, the building was formely Lloyd’s Bank, and the wine cellar was once the bank’s vault… A friendlier transition, to be sure. The food menu here is pretty interesting, and also rather cheap. If you’re one for Spanish cuisine, I’d recommend you attend Tapas Tuesday for some seriously good offers on said cuisine, all accompanied with fine wine. Alcohol wise, Banco Lounge boasts an impressive selection of ales, ciders and lagers. I recently discovered the appley delight that is Orchard Pig cider — if you’re a cider fiend and have yet to try this, you really must. In fact, it is this beverage above all else that tempts me back to Banco Lounge. Make of that what you will…

The Banco Lounge is the latest instalment from the very small chain of Bristol based«Lounge» bars. The original one being in Bedminster. The difference between this one and the one in Bedminster is, well there isn’t one really. Same menu, same lights, same sort of table and chairs, even the same pictures on the walls. Like all successful businesses, they start to lose their charm and individuality as soon as they start to branch out in to the chain gang. One difference of note with the Banco Lounge is because it is a converted Lloyds Bank and due to the size of the building, it feels a little squashed in places. Don’t get me wrong though, the Banco Lounge, like it’s brothers and sisters around the city, is a very nice bar. It has great food, a very good bar with plenty on tap and in the fridge. The atmosphere is always pleasant too as the prices tend to scare off the riff raff.

Ok — so the Lounges of Bristol(and now Cardiff) are swiftly becoming identikits — but I think this one is still my favourite(closely followed by Porto in Fishponds and the one in Penarth). Best evenings are Tapas Tuesdays — three of the best Spanish bites in town and a glass of wine for £3.95 — I’m sold! The calamari has to be eaten to be believed — beer battered, crunchy and tentacled — without even a hint of rubber, served up with a dollop of thick aioli, mmmmmm. They do Clifton coffee in all varieties of froth and non-froth– decaff and regular both smooth as coffee should be. Close to Temple Meads station and the main thorough fare of Totterdown, although overrun with mums during the day and weekend evenings are heaving. Still, beats Starbucks or Nandos hand down.

The latest of the local Lounges to spring up in the city, this one is housed in a former bank in Totterdown. It very much follows the formula of the others in the small chain, with an identical menu and even the same pictures adorning the walls. Where I would say this is inferior to the original Bedminster-based establishment is that it’s far smaller, with too many tables and chairs crammed in. Consequently it gets a bit crowded and waits at the bar can get a bit tedious. However, the reason that it always seems to be busy is that the food is very good and very reasonable. I would personally recommend the sweet chilli chicken panini with chips and salad for just £6, though this remains very much somewhere I would pop in for some grub(including breakfast — they open at 9am), than actually sit down and drink for more than a quick pint.

food and drink fine and staff good — nice décor. Huge menu choice just like the other Deco Lounge places. But watch out for dodgy characters nicking form handbags and pockets — the place is getting a reputation for this unfortunately. Kids packs to entertain the snappers while you eat. Papers too. Go for the eggy bread bacon brunch — yummo.

Part of a chain of longue’s in Bristol, the Banco longue is a nice quiet place to have lunch or evening meal. It is quite well decorated and nicely placed on the Wells Road. Does some good cider too and is well decorated inside and out. All in all– well worth a visit even if it is a bit pricey,

Lovely inviting décor & lighting, and great food. They’re really good with kids as well. On a busy night, this place has a great atmosphere to it, and I’d totally recommend it. The only reason I didn’t give it 5* is that sometimes the staff are a bit hit and miss. In particular, there is one manager who works there who is pretty dismal. She’s very surly, and last time I was there avoided mucking in and serving at the heaving bar, because she had to do a ‘stock check’. Avoid her, and you’re sorted. Shame, because she lets down the otherwise brilliant staff.

I have been to this particular lounge a couple of times and had a couple of meals there. I have to say this place has a lovely welcoming feel to it and I think the way the place is decorated and the use of reclaimed furniture really gives it character. They have quite a few locally sourced ingredients I believe and this makes for a top meal at a reasonable price. The beer is good to! You can read the papers and have a great fry-up as well for about £5/6.

The Lounge chain’s excursion into Totterdown sees it housed in a former bank, and an impressive venue it makes too. All your Lounge favourites are there, from big brunches, to classic lunches like burgers and chips and paninis. With papers to read and board games to play, this is a great way to while away a Sunday afternoon. A good place to drink too!

Another great ‘lounge’, they have quite of few of these in Bristol. I went there for Sunday lunch the other day and it was great. I’d been there before and enjoyed it, the children like all the games which are there to be played with, especially jenga(nothing like having a brick fall in your wine!). The sunday lunch is about £8.95 and half price for the kids. Choice of three meals, last week it was chicken,. pork or veggie(carrot and pinenut loaf I think). It was served with honeyed carrots and parsnips, peas, roast pots and red cabbage. It was great because they had made a bit more effort with the accompanying veg than most places do. We got there about 12 and got a table fine, but it was pretty full by about 1 and wouldn’t fancy waiting if you have children, but if you were a couple it wouldn’t be a hardship to prop up the bar and wait for a table! We’re looking foward to going again when we are in Bristol next.

A recent addition to the Lounge chain in Bristol, the Banco Lounge is located in the old Lloyds Bank building, which was then used by the YMCA. The food is pretty good, although we went recently for breakfast and it seemed to take quite a while for our food to come out. They have lots of beers, a varied menu, and books and games to play with while waiting for your food!
