The Cambridge Arms is a lovely country pub based in Redland — and I am really surprised that I don’t go to there more. Not matter what the season, The Cambridge Arms is a treat. During the winter it is a warm and cosy pub with a great winer menu, and in the summer it has a fantastic beer garden with lots of grass and pub benches. A grass pub garden is difficult to come by this close to town. Not only is the Cambridge Arms great inside and out, the menu and food is also superb. It is traditional pub grub with a slight modern twist. But this is top quality pub grub, with the best ingredients and all made in their own kitchen. I’ve been on a bit of a quest to find the best Sunday Lunch in Bristol, and these guys are on the ‘Bloomin awesome’ list! I originally hit 4 stars, but I can’t find anything to fault them on — so it’s a solid 5 stars. I’ll definitely be making more of an effort to go there!

After bookmarking this pub at Christmas I finally managed to visit this summer. We didn’t sit in the fabulous beer garden and instead ate our Sunday roast lunch indoors. The décor is tasteful with muted colors and some wallpaper with classic wooden furniture. The plates of roast were well-balanced, but on the smaller side. My pork came with 2 roast spuds, green and red cabbage, corquette, mashed swede, Yorkshire pudding and gravy. If you don’t like apple sauce tell them as it comes already plated. Our plates barely had any gravy on, but a small gravy boat was brought on request as were the horseradish and mint sauce.

I really like The Cambridge Arms, it has a really nice atmosphere, very good wine menu for a ‘local’ and a decent range of beers

Excellent Local. Good beer choice and mains for under £10. Food is great quality. We find it hard to bother going anywhere else for pub food as it just won’t be as good as the Cambridge.

People always ask me whereabouts to go in Redland during the summer(in terms of boozers that is). Well, the answer is simple The Cambridge Arms. Not only does it have outdoor seating round the front and side of the building but head down the steps at the back and it has the Narnia of beer gardens complete with rope swing. Saying that, on a busy Saturday afternoon you might even be pushed to find a seat here too. But The Cambridge Arms isn’t merely a summer pub, inside it is warms and cosy for those cold winter nights. It has the deco and food of a decent gastro pub but none of the stand offishness you can sometimes get in places like that. The bar staff are both friendly and helpful and the kind of drinks you get are the ones you would reasonably expect in such an establishment, Belgian lager, bottled cider and pale ale.

This used to be my local and I felt it was somewhere to be cherished… not a fellow student in sight(apart from my flatmates). The Cambridge Arms is in Redland and near the top end of Whiteladies, but beats any of the competition. For a local pub, the grub wasn’t too expensive and was far from shabby. They had great lunchtime deals — 2 meals for £7.95, and a cheap glass of lunchtime wine never went amiss. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and made each experience at the Cambridge Arms even better.

Not that it realy needed it in my opinion, but this place had a refurb about 18 months ago and they improved on what was already a fantastic local. The beer on tap is great and the quality of the food is superb. Pub grub yes. But it is done to perfection, with great ingredients at reasonable prices and brought to you with a smile. The staff really seem to enjoy working here and you can see why, it has a great atmosphere. This place is busy virtually every night and sometimes you have to wait for a table to free up, but this is an indication of it’s popularity of. One of the best local pubs in Bristol. Just wish it was actually my local.

I used to live just around the corner from this very nice pub that’s situated in Redland, just across from the top of Whiteladies Road and the Downs. The best time to go is in the summer, as the beer garden out the back is very nice and relaxing — so much so, that I’d recommend families coming here with their kids, as the garden is enclosed and the atmosphere blissful. There are also a few tables out the front and to the side of the pub, too, which are usually populated by students, smokers or smoking students. Inside, it’s a well run place with a good food menu — their Sunday roast is well worth a go — as well as two or three screens showing the latest Premiership games or other sporting events(not that the clientele are anything like typical, shouting footy fans). My favourite thing about this place is the Honey Dew organic larger, which they serve on tap. Give it a go next time you’re in the area.

This is a nice traditional kind of pub. It’s in Redland but just far enough away from Whiteladies to attract more of a local crowd than a studenty one. The main room is a welcoming place with food on offer, a regular pub quiz and even a piano if you fancy a sing song. It’s on sunny days, though, that it comes into its own. There’s seating out the front on the main road, but far more recommended is the large beer garden out the back which offers plenty of seating and a climbing frame for the kids.

This popular Redland pub has tempted on many a cycle ride home. It’s nothing fancy(though not at all tatty and in a handsome Victorian(I think) building), fairly large, and usually pretty full. They do a good trade in locals, most of whom look quite happy that they aren’t any shops or offices near by to pull in passing trade. It feels convivial and friendly — lots of people just having a drink and a banter. Though I haven’t tried them, people rave about the Sunday roasts, which the pub proudly touts. The food in general is pretty good — not just tacked on as an after thought, as it feels like they’ve done at some pubs. They’ve got a quiz on the same day, so you can make a day of it if you like. Benches outside, though it’s on quite a busy road so having a drink here isn’t fantastically pleasant. The Cambridge Arms has a small band of loyal regulars and you can see why.

The Cambridge Arms is my local pub and my friend and I love going there. It started off as a Sunday Roast thing after a saturday night as their beer garden fetched lots of sunlight and a cool breeze is always good. As winter came, we started going there mid-week for food and the menu was brilliant. My personal favourite at the moment is the Chicken Breast stuffed with Blue Cheese, wrapped in Parma Ham with a creamy mushroom sauce and your choice of potatoes. Great value for money and the array of beers there is also excellent. One of the best pubs in Bristol and I’m sure my friends would agree!

This pub, in my opinion, is THE best in the area. The beer is spot on, the food is always top quality and VFM, and the service is exemplary. The quiz on Sundays is very popular, should you wish to take part I suggest you get there early for a table or suffer writing your answers on your mates back. It’s always a bit of a laugh as well as the host is the manager who is a Geordie, well known for their sense of humour. I would recommend this pub over any other in the Redland/Clifton area.

I live fairly local to this pub, and it’s great. The bar staff are really friendly, and the beers they serve are second to none. There is a really warm and welcoming feel to the place, with music in the background at jst the right level. A great place to go!

This is my local. A truly great pub since its refurbishment. Has a great selection of Fullers beers, including Honeydew, a real favourite amongst us. The food is excellent, and the Sunday quiz is very well organised. The place is always busy which says it all.

The Cambridge Arms is a large local pub in the Redland area. It is usually busy and has a friendly clientele. The a good beer garden and the Cambridge also serves nice meals. I would recommend the Cambridge Arms over other pubs in this area and its worth going a little out of your way to visit it.

If you are heading away from Whiteladies road this is the last decent pub for quite a while. Close to Redland road but on Coldharbour road, from the outside the building’s vicotorian achitecure oozes charm. However the paint work has been given a modern twist as the pub sign and some of the paint work has a rainbow theme(This isn’t a gay pub — however the welcome is generally warm). There’s a car park here where it is generally very easy to find a space. From here you can either go into the pub or head to either the front garden(tarmac with a lot of large flower beds + pots around) which is good for the smokers, or head to the back garden. I would go straight to the back garden(even forsaking getting a beer first — yes. you heard me right). The back garden is huger, and in the summer a real sun trap. You can always get a seat here and it’s fantastic for the kids to run around in with enough foliage for them to play hide and seek. This is great for families if you want the kids to be out of ear shot but in a safe environment. Inside, the pub is very nice with the bar in the middle and seating areas either side. It’s not really big enough for large groups but is good for families or in the evening friends, students, colleagues to sit comfortably with a drink. Speaking of drinks, the selection is of very good quality the beer is Fullers and very well kept. The wine, spirits and a good selction of bottled beers ciders etc is also excellent. The food is worth mentioning as the portions are a very good size and all though it’s typical pub fare eg fish and chips, bangers and mash etc. It’s very tasty and well worth coming here for in itself. For the none drink relate entertainment, there is a fruit machine and a quiz machine. The staff are nice enough but there always seems to be one or two that are grumpy. A very good pub and almost deserves five stars but not quite. The inside of the pub is a bit small and can get quite cramped on a friday night. The services isn’t always the quickest, and it is lacking something I can’t put my finger on. On the whole though a very fine pub for all ages especially families.

All I can say about this venue that is definitely worth seeking out. It is located on the residential Coldharbor Road(Redland). This is a traditional, local pub with friendly, inviting atmosphere and laid back ambience. It is popular among students, workers and residents. You can find here great choice of premium lagers, bottled beers and an excellent wine list. Food on the other hand is particularly good. It is high quality, home-cooked and most importantly at reasonable prices. The home-made burgers are more and more popular and I am not surprised! They are so succulent and all made with fresh ingredients and the size of it! I love them and recommend to everyone. There is also daily specials and lighter bites available. It is a great place to hang out with your mates.
