Came along to the Porto Lounge this morning after being turned away by Melanie’s Kitchen. Ive always enjoyed a good lounge and The Porto is no exception. A lovely comfy homely décor, that doesn’t distract to much. The service was good despite being busy. And when me brekky arrived I wasn’t disappointed. Top quality and well priced. I shall be back !

When This place got a return I went in many times and the food was really great. Fresh local and abnormal ingredients cooked really well. The surroundings were relaxing and feels really welcoming. Recently though it has become a victim of its own success. There seems to be as many tables and chairs rammed into the space as physically possible, which makes eating uncomfortable and relaxing impossible. The food quality had remained high, which matches its pricing. Doubt I will visit much more despite being local.

There are several Lounge bars dotted around Bristol, having just moved to the Fishponds area this one happens to be my local! All the lounge’s have the same warm welcoming atmosphere, comfy sofa’s and mud matched tables and chairs. I always love the old photos and mirrors as well, for a day dreamer liked I like to rest my eyes on the cool décor whilst my mind wonders! The food has always been good, the recent visit we both had the Mexican burger, a beef burger served with jalapeños, sour cream and chilli it was delicious! We also shared the last piece of chocolate and ginger cheesecake, now this was next level mega! It’s a shame us was the last piece cause I reckon we’d have cleared them out. Porto also offer a great selection on the brunch menu, next on my wish list is the dirty beans on today which is served with pulled pork, I mean OMG! The bar is well stocked, offering a good selection if beers, lager and spirits as well as a cocktail menu. All in all a great place to eat and drink, perfect for couples and small groups, also kid friendly! Get your self here for a visit!

I’m a big fan of the lounges chain and this one doesn’t disappoint. Its the main place I go to eat in Fishponds which as an area does lack good restaurants. Its cosy, the staff are friendly and its got food to suit all tastes. My only criticism is its quite small so is always busy, especially at lunch times and a nightmare to navigate with a push chair. It is very child friendly though, with games and colouring to entertain. The breakfast menu is all delicious, I especially love the eggy bread and bacon stack dripping with golden syrup. The main menu has something for everyone, burgers, sandwiches, salads, steaks, tapas and much more. I especially love the fact they have 6 – 7 specials they change each month so there is always something fresh to try. There is a good selection of drinks, hot, cold and alcoholic. They also serve a selection of cakes and deserts but I don’t think these live up to the standards of the rest of the food.

This place has really gone downhill over the past few months. My girlfriend and I visited for breakfast this morning. She chose the porridge and I went for the ‘Lounge’ eggs with smoked salmon(Eggs Benedict, essentially) with coffee. The food took an inordinate period of time to arrive, the coffee was burnt, the porridge was cold and to top it all off there was a hair in my eggs. We will definitely not return.

Yay for expansion! I’m a massive fan of everything that this little local ‘chain’ of cafes/bars has to offer. The Lounge Bars are a wonderful invention, and I look forward to them spreading all over in a Starbucks-like rash. Porto Lounge serves a wide range of food, cakes, tapas, coffee, beer and cocktails. In short, there really is something here for everyone. At night time the whole place is lit up with candles in a cosy and personable air, which is romantic, comfortable, classy and relaxed. One of my favourite things about this chain of cafes is the interior design. It’s completely to my taste; think old churchy interiors with cosy sofas, candles and chit chat-able tables. The food and drinks here are wonderful; slightly on the expensive side, perhaps, but I’ve always found that it’s worth every penny. A choice selection. Go and enjoy.

Its a really great place to catch up with friends. Its got a great atmosphere and everyones really friendly. The food is good but the hot chocolate is to die for! It can get really busy at times but its defently worth visiting.

Porto Lounge is a welcoming and friendly café in Fishponds that offers a variety of light lunches and refreshments. It’s located just near to the St Matthias UWE campus so you can expect to see various student customers chilling out inside. The interior could do with some redecorating to keep it up to date, however it is a cosy and warm place that is ideal for relaxing in with a friend or two. In terms of size it’s fairly small, so perhaps not the best place to go if you are in a large group! Pricing is also fairly standard for a café in Bristol, not overly cheap but still reasonably priced for what you get — a bowl of soup would set you back around the £4 mark. One thing I would add is that there is no option of sitting outside and it tends to get pretty warm indoors in the summer months, but apart from that I have nothing bad to say about this place, so if you’re looking for somewhere new to go then check it out!

This is another one of the ever expanding and successful lounge bars in the south west and this one, not unlike the others, is rather good. It looks exactly like the other lounges around the city, which is a compliment and a criticism at the same time. On the one hand it has a very warm welcoming feel, with just the right amount of contemporary touches and nice clean lines, but being pretty much identical to the other braches, it and indeed they, are starting to lose something of their charm. The food is still excellent though as is their selection of beers, ales and ciders. Definitely one of the best bars in Fishponds.

A little busy if you’re expecting the standard Lounge ‘chilled one’ but still just as lovely nonetheless, this little lounge is perfectly situated for UWE students in Fishponds. There’s the usual papers, board games and book swap, if you’re procrastinating from an essay, but also strong coffee for keeping awake whilst you work on an essay on your laptop. Make sure you get here in time for breakfast, it’s simply delish!

The smallest of the Lounges group, this is always busy especially for a lazy Sunday brunch and read of the newspaper. Clientele are mostly students with money or the younger locals without children to entertain. Food is British breakfasts with style and in the evening it is comforting food with a twist. With only 7 or 8 tables, you need to be early to get a space or be friendly to share a table. Wine and spirit choices are superb. Lots of board games and a book swap if you like but with 90 degree windows on a junction by the park it is more fun to watch Fishponds life filter by.

I’ve gone by here loads of times and stopped in last month to check it out. I went in early afternoon and the lunch crowd was starting to disperse. I got a table and ordered a sandwich and drink. Both arrived quickly, and the sandwich was quite tasty and not overpriced. The menu had an interesting selection on offer. Some other customers were just having tea, coffee or beer. A mixed crowd: lots of uni students(a branch of UWE is down the road a bit), families with children and a few OAPs. I liked the atmosphere and coziness and was surprised that somewhere like this wasn’t located in Clifton or somewhere trendy. I plan on going back to check it out further.

Lovely little place just by the Straits in Fishponds. It’s one of the more intimate ‘lounges’ so sometimes you’re hard pressed to find a table. It has a real homely feeling, chilled, easygoing and also child friendly. The food menu is quite good for tapas, occasional fish dishes and they do a mean sweet potato curry but are somewhat lacking on the portion sizes. A downside is they seem to have gone to Iceland for their desserts, very disappointing but they make up for lack of taste by over loading you with the bad desserts. Hey are really busy every evening, so get there early to settle into your spot. Drag out one of the many supplied board games and grab a beer of two.

The Fishponds outpost is the smallest of the ‘Bristol Lounges’ & also seems to be the busiest. Ticks all the Lounge boxs — the only issue is not being able to get a table

I must say I was a little disappointed with my visit to The Porto Lounge. When I first visited it had not long been open and was a breath of fresh air in terms of appearance and style in a fairly average, bordering-on-run down-street outside of Bristol. The interior is cosy with large dark wood chunky tables and a large chalk board advertsing the menu. So good so far. The menu it turned out was pretty limited and I was there with my mum who doesn’t eat meat and there was little choice for her. I ordered a ciabatta which was dry and lacking in flavour and the Thai-fishcakes my mum opted for were really small and unsatisfying. I would recommend this place more as a coffee hang out rather than a reliably good place to go and eat. Nice atmosphere but menu needs some work.
