Food here was okay, nothing extraordinary. Unsure what they may be known for as their menu includes a wide selection of various kinds of foods. The spicy calamari was good and not spicy at all, also tried the chicken avocado salad and it was good as well, pretty basic. The wine was also good

A waterfront bar popular with office workers, it’s large, set over 3 floors so good for private parties and large groups as you can book out the bar upstairs or even the whole of the upstairs. They also cater for hen and stag dos as well as birthday parties, and have outdoor seating. The atmosphere is more corporate, mainly due to the clientele, and the prices match this. But it is fairly friendly and food is reasonable and average quality.

The location of P & P is very strategic. Facing the Waterfront. A view of the Harbour. Outside seating. Fancy decoration. Up floor seating. Shining interiors. Well dressed Staff. Service is quick and fast. Now, let’s get down to the up close and personal experience. In my UoB days P & P was the first stop on a night out before we headed somewhere to have a boogie. But later, it got revamped and sports a more up beat look. I haven’t been there for a while. So, yesterday when a friend asked to have her Birthday drinks there, I was instantly game for it. We entered, rested ourselves on a table outside. Now, the Security came and shouted at us that we have to get inside as the clock struck 11PM. Now, the drink prices are quite expensive. I mean, a Monkey Shoulder Whiskey is priced at £3.50 without any soft drinks! You don’t expect such shouting from a Security bloke after paying such a hefty price. We started taking our drinks, inside, and from nowhere, he just shot back again, as if he is straight going to kick our balls. And Oh, yes, he kept on shouting at the top of his pitch! The music inside, was pretty loud, so loud that we had to shout to each other. I couldn’t understand what went wrong with this place. The table service was pretty good and fast, although. And even at midnight, the waitress still sported her smile! This place is O.K., I will say, if you want to pay at least a minimum double the price than anywhere, else. That’s it!

Useless restaurant. Generic chain food, stupidly overpriced, in a space which has no charm or character. Unpleasant in every way; avoid.

Doesn’t draw in the crowds too much. However, security will still make people wait to get in late in the evening. Just round the corner from the main night club. Drinks are quite good, but a little pricey in comparison the neighbouring places. Service is average.

The Pitcher and Piano(which I always get mixed up with the Slug and Lettuce) is what it is — a generic chain bar serving mainstream drinks and food. It’s not as scummy as some Wetherspoons(then it’s also not as cheap) and it’s not as nice as Browns but it fills a gap on the harbourside for that instantly recognisable name. I went here for a friends hen do, they hired the upstairs bit and we made hats and brooches and cocktails and it was all very… pink(I can’t stand pink but what can you do at hen dos hey?!) The staff were really helpful and accommodating and the drinks weren’t as pricey as I’d imagined. Saying that, I was on the soft drinks because unbeknown to me I was sitting on top of a very unpleasant bout of salmonella(not from the Pitcher and Piano I’d like to add, some dodgy egg I’d eaten at a farm the day before).

This bar is situated right by the harbour front, next to Weatherspoons. I wouldn’t normally be inclined to walk in here, but recently accompanied a group of photographers who were out shooting, and this was our meeting point. I would say that it is the kind of bar that is quite typical — serves food for lunch, drinks served from afternoon on to the evening. The food here is alright, nothing particular to shout about, but decent and tasty food nonetheless. They are usually quite busy with lunches due to the touristy crowd, and can get rammed on Friday and Saturday nights, as this area usually does on the weeknights. There is a huge upstairs area, and the décor is brown and plush and going for a classy feel. In my opinion, this place is good for business meetings, and weekend nights if you’re into the kind of crowd that parties at Oceana.

The Bristol branch of this upmarket bar chain is in a great location on Bristol’s waterfront. Split over two levels it is very spacious and large leather booths surround the walls, ideal for large groups of people. That, unfortunately, is where the good points about this bar come to an end. The drinks are expensive the place is, inexplicably, rammed on the weekends and the staff have a permanent look indicating that they can’t be bothered. There is no unique quality to this bar, it’s just quite bland. From what I here this place is popular at lunchtimes with many students and their families choosing the waterfront to celebrate their graduation. In my own experience I’ve only ever been here in the evenings where everyone is looking the same, talking about the same things and ordering the same drinks.

This attractive little bar is located on the Bristol Waterfront, a definite bonus in the summer months especially if you sit in their outside seating area, as you can enjoy a few drinks whilst looking out onto the water! Pitcher and Piano is a slightly more upmarket bar with a much more civilized feel than many others. It isn’t geared towards a student audience at all, and instead attracts business men and men and women in their late twenties upwards. The interior is well decorated and had a very modern feel, you feel like you are somewhere with a bit of class! And the drink prices reflect this — they aren’t too expensive, but aren’t student prices either! I have had a cocktail here when I had a 2for1 cocktail voucher(keep an eye out in local newspapers etc) and it was delicious! So I would definitely recommend the strawberry daiquiri… If you want to find a bar away from all the bustle and buzz of the clubbers, then Pitcher and Piano is worth a visit as it is a very relaxing bar, in a great location!

I will first start with the good points! Pitcher and Piano is is a really good spot. It is right on the harbour side in a very new and plush location. It is a good place to go to if you want a quick(and I mean VERY quick) drink before moving swiftly on to another bar! As with every Pitcher and Piano their prices aren’t great. I do however like the 2 for £6 deal on the cocktails and their Mojito’s are really very good. Anything else is bog standard and expensive. The place itself lacks any form of atmosphere, uniqueness or class. It is dull, boring and full of too many loud people! The staff are also as above. Its a shame that such a rubbish bar is in the location it is, a massive waste of space in my opinion!

This is a Pitcher & Piano, so you sort of know what to expect, a slightly upmarket version of Weatherspoons. At least, I think that’s what they would have you believe. Unfortunately this one on the water front is no better, in fact it’s worse than a lot of Weatherspoons I’ve been into. For a start, it’s in a converted warehouse, so it has no atmosphere what so ever. Secondly, it isn’t cheap and considering the food is a load of crap, I can’t quite work out how they think they can charge you for this overpriced pile of poo. Thirdly, it is heaving at the seems with oiks, pikeys and chavs on a Friday and Saturday night and therefore somewhere I wouldn’t be caught dead at. Great location on the waters edge though and as long as you don’t turn around or look at the undesirables to either side of you, possibly worth a drink at in the summer; possibly.

Pitcher and Piano has everything going for it: a superb location, great premises and a willing public. But it fails on every level. I’ve been to other Pitcher and Piano’s before which have been always been reliably good, but don’t be fooled, this bar is below par. The staff look as though they resent you for ordering a drink — «Work? Me?! You’ve GOT to be kidding!», the tables and chairs are suspiciously sticky and the food is often cold and plastic-y. The saving grace is their happy hour which offers two cocktails for £6, but the length of time it takes the bar staff to make them makes it all not worth it. Sadly the harbour has a really poor selection of bars so I’d suggest making the five minute walk up Park Street to drink somewhere cheaper and much more fun!

A converted warehouse down on the waterfront, as you can imagine this place is huge(indeed, it’s apparently the biggest Pitcher and Piano in the country!). As a result, it’s a multi-level echoey place with no atmposphere. And being located down on ‘the wrong side’ of the waterfront, it attracts the kind of people you want to avoid. There are seats out the front, but a lot of better places offer the same but in nicer surroundings, and even if you are after a cheesey night out it’s not even as cheap as some of its competitors at around £3.50 a pint. The only positive I can think of is that the Pitcher and Piano is taking one for the team, housing a large proportion of chavs in one place, making them easy to avoid in a place not worth going to.

Bottles of wine for £6.99 really don’t help Britain’s culture of binge drinking on a Friday and Saturday night. Nor do great big jugs of alcopop cocktails. This place does ‘em all. Hundreds of punters are squeezed together like chickens in a battery farm(poor taste analogy — sorry) and there’s nowhere pleasant to sit and chat. The one good thing is that it’s facing the waterfont — but then so is the Watershed, and Arnolfini is just across the way — why oh why would you stay here? Therein lies the conundrum –because so many people swear by it as their perfect destination for an evening out. These customers are clearly on their way to Oceana, or other slightly hideous establishments. Best avoided, however cheap the food or drink — unfortunately, like most things in life, you’ll get exactly what you pay for.

very comfortable bar with good music at just the right level to allow correct socialising, great atmosphere in a nice setting although drinks are very expensive so you will have to be wary of not getting drawn in as your round in this place if you are touring the drinking places around here, but it does seem a popular meet up venue especially early on in the evening

The Pitcher and piano is well worth a visit. It is an attractive building located on the waterfront and has a great atmosphere. You can sit inside or outside which is lovely in the summer, looking over the water. The seating inside is varied, with sofas and chairs, but all in all comfortable lounging. They do also cater for dining so you can grab a bite to eat. Atmosphere is great and there is normally music playing great for winding down after a long day!

Ok bar when it comes to chain places. A bit nicer than the bars around it.

My usual meeting place with friends if we are venturing down to the waterfront on an evening or weekend. As the first reviewer says they do sell spirits in double measures but once you realise this it’s not hard to just ask for a single measure. The bar staff will warn you too if you don’t look like a regular. Bottles of wine are average prices for any pub/club and they are better quality than some restaurant house wines. It does get really crowded on an evening due to it’s location, a fave spot for the Lloyd’s Canons Marsh employees. Food is reasonable and well cooked and they serve gluten free open sandwiches so are catering for those of us with allergies.

I have a real issue with this place. A nice bar with comfortable surroundings and a great atmosphere. However, if you are planning on going, take out a loan first. Expensive is not the word, there are not adjectives to do justice to how expensive it is. £5.50 for a jack and diet coke! Now being from up north I know there will be differences, but ridiculous. I have no issue paying a premium for my drinks, in fact I dont mind paying a premium for your drinks! But I mind being ripped off. When I asked, they said the serve doubles as a standard unless you rerquest otherwise. Which in normal speak is(we will serve you a double because you would never ask for a single when ordering. That way we maximise profit and fleece you of your cash quicker.) This ploy is scandalous and for this reason I would drink somewhere else. I would rather pay £6.00 for two seperate singles than £5.50 here for a rip off double! Save your money and go somewhere else!
