This is by far my favourite butchers in the area, it’s a good old fashioned family run business their main focus is about selling good quality produce, no quirks or gimmicks! The owner is really friendly and will always point out the right cut and quantity of produce to meet your needs. The sausages are amazing here, the lamb and mint are pretty special and the chorizo flavoured ones are awesome on a BBQ. I struggled to find a butcher around here that would beat Packerts for quality and value. Although I don’t live close by anymore Its definitely worth a trip back to stock up the freezer.

There are several different butcher shops on Gloucester Rd and as a result, one would assume, each needs to do something slightly different in order to survive. Packert Butchers is known in these parts for its sausages. Hardly surprising being a butcher shop you may think, but the extent to which different sausages are produced here is really quite interesting. From Italian to Hungarian, all sausage styles have been mastered here in what they call their ‘mini sausage factory’. As one would expect for such an outstanding business that’s been here for twelve years all the meat is fresh, local and where possible, organic. Open before and after you go to work, this is a clean, fresh and professional butcher. Little reason not to visit then unless, well, you’re a vegetarian.

Sells the best sausages I have ever tasted. We make sure we have a constant supply of the Hungarian sausages(with paprika in them). The Boer ones were great too. The people there are friendly and can recommend and prepare cuts they way you’d like them. Since finding these guys we consistently get our meat from them. They are very good value in my opinion.

The self-styled ‘sausage king’(and who am I to disagree?), Packaert Butchers offers fantastic prices on lovely fresh meat. There opening hours are a little odd, in that it’s sometimes closed on weekday mornings, and closes for staff holidays once in a while, but if you catch this little gem open, there are so many good deals, you could cook an absolute banquet for 5 people for under a tenner!
