This is a tidy little pub, a great traditional bar with a variety of alcohol on stock, choice is something you will definatley have. I think this place fits in with all the other bars round Old Market that have all been taken care of really well. There are two faces to the Old Market. There is the daytime pub, with beautifully home cooked meal and firendly cosey atmosphere where a lunchtime ale and roast dinner can be throughley enjoyed. Then at night, comes the second face of Old Market… Picture the scene, a couple of my mates have come to visit me in Bristol, we’ve decided to have a bit of a lads night out and a pub crawl round Bristol we’ve had a few brews in our system and we stumble up to the old Market, we wander in and have alook around as we order, one of my mates looks around and says«there’s alot of blokes in here aint there?» then as we drink out pint we realise, there is a pumping gay scene at night times in here!

I never quite realised how many pubs there were hidden away in and around Old Market, this is one of the better ones. It’s a friendly place, very much from the service with a smile school of thought. The beer isn’t too pricey and they’ve got the usual pub menu with plenty of options for less than a fiver. Plenty of work has gone into making the place look nice. The garden, in particular, is stuffed with potted plants — makes a change for smokers used to grimy back yards. The effort extends to events, with bingo(not really my cup of tea but I’m sure how some people like to spend an evening) on Thursdays and impromptu BBQs when there’s the weather for it. The Old Market Tavern gets a thumbs up from me for somewhere where care has been taken to get the simple things right.
