The M&S Deli serves reasonable food, largely because the cooking is automated. For instance, the manager explained to us that the pasta is cooked automatically by a special machine, so why we had undercooked pasta was inexplicable. Yet, it was undercooked. However, my penne and pesto was lovely and was just what I was looking for. We were told we would have to wait till 12 noon before ordering lunch(it was 11.55am), but it still arrived at about 12.25 anyway. This underlines the real reason we wouldn’t return to M&S Deli: the food is reasonably tasty and reasonably priced, and the wine is good because it’s straight off the M&S shelves, but the service is terrible! We were there for an hour, which was way longer than we expected. This was because of poor all-round service. While we were there, we heard at least three other complaints, with one couple actually leaving. I’m sure this isn’t the sort of ‘experience’ M&S wants to encourage. Our waiter wasn’t polite, wasn’t attentive, was blasé and had dirty fingernails(yet still handled the raw Parmesan cheese). Get the staff sorted and the rest will follow.

After a day at Cribbs causeway, living on nothing but Millies cookies and ice-cream, the thoughts of cooking is like needles shoved into my eyes and dinner from M&S is the easy and delicious option. Also make sure you pick up the incredibly fantastic best ginger biscuit — the dark chocolate gingers with real stem ginger bits. Soooooo delicious. I like the layout of the food store. I find navigating the homeware, gifts and clothing section a bit more hectic however, especially at Christmas when everyone is trying to push their way around. Everything seems really on top of one another.

The other main store at Cribbs at the other end from John Lewis is a two-storey M&S with the food hall, mens and xmas bumpf downstairs and the women’s section upstairs. The selection is OK, but has dwindled in recent years from their more expensive or exclusive ranges back to their staple Per Una and cashmere jumpers choices. Their shoes remain, mystifyingly, some of the kinkiest in the Mall bar Kurt Geiger so even if thought of shopping in M&S makes you think of your grandmother’s twin set and pearls then brave it and check out the shoes. Staff are always helpful in here, especially good as its such a big store, and will help you find things or fetch you different sizes of clothes whilst you stay in the changing room.

Marks and Spencer is such a great British icon. They sell so many different products it would be almost impossible to list them all. They have a great clothing departments. prices are a lot more reasonable than they used to be, they very often have sales on. the quality of their items is also excellent. I always look at the food department when i go in this store because the offers change from day to day.

This is a great all round department store selling everything from home furnishings to food. It is split over two levels with a couple of escalators between floors and is well laid out, easy to get around even if you have the children in tow and caters for everyone. On the ground floor the home furnishings are laid out, though last time I visited it was obviously just awaiting the new seasons stock so was a little bare. There are some beautiful home accessories, rugs, cushions, curtains, frames, you name it — everything to beautifully co-ordinate your home. Menswear is also on the ground floor which has a good range of styles and sizes. And then there is the foodhall — yummy! The food is a little on the expensive side but I have never had anything that wasn’t absolutely gorgeous — and the meal for £10 deals are a bargain when you consider you get a bottle of wine included. Upstairs ladies wear and childrens, again, a good selection of well made clothing.

This is a great shop, literally(well almost) everything you need under one roof, and with the benefit of easy access parking. I would call this a one stop shop and if my wallet allowed I wouldn’t have to venture much past here. The food department is superb, yes, the items are a little pricey but the quality is excellent. The food all tastes as food should. The fruit and vegetables stay fresh and thus there is very little waste. They sell beautiful cards, kitchen items, accessories to uplift every room in your house, towels and bed linen in lots of different colors and they wash really well. They sell well made furniture and of course, as you would expect clothing and accessories for the whole family. The fashion department has various sections in it to suit how you want to dress, per una, classic, and various other genres, there must be something for everyone — even if its only the underwear!
