The Lamb is on the side of the main road going through Mangotsfield. It’s in a very prominent position. Hard to miss. There’s lots of televisions inside, all tuned into sport. The food was surprisingly good. We had the two meals for £7.50 deal, one gammon and one steak and kidney pie. Both meals were served with chips and peas. The chips in particular were very good, crispy on the outside, lovely and fluffy inside. After that it was cheesecake which was £2.89 I think. What isn’t so good about the Lamb is the state it’s in. The décor is old, it’s grubby with grease and other nasties dried onto radiators, dirty woodwork and horrible 70’s carpeting. I wouldn’t want to be here long but some regulars do. It’s popular with smokers. There seemed to be an unofficial dress code of trekkies for women(preferably pink) and denim for the men. Lots of tattoos too. Awesome!

This place is all about the cheapness. Which suits me as im known for liking a bargain and the lamb is the January sales of bargains. The food and drink is very inexpensive boarding ridiculously cheap. Two meals for 6.50 ! And in all fairness its of a decent quality. Dont expect michelin quality food and you wont be disappointed. The décor could be described as tired. But if they changed the carpet and gave it a lick of paint they would have to put the price up! Its great for families and they have an extensive kids menu. In these times of austerity the lamb is absolute winner and I would recommend it. We’ve eaten here at least 10 times and never had a bad meal. One tip the steaks come out on a sizzler. If you want it rare or medium rare ask for a plate so it doesn’t overcook on front of you.
