I think a lot of people get a little put off by the location of this venue. My advice; don’t let the other establishments deter you, grounded is a great little town café. The vibe and ambiance is very similar to The lounge, but the pricing is a lot more agreeable. As you can probably guess from the name, they do good coffee. Great coffee actually, so great that I almost always ask for an extra shot! Their selection of drinks isn’t terrifically large, but the wines and beer they have on over are all very potable. Not sure about the wines, but of beer, they currently have budvar and gem on tap! As for the food; it’s a mixture of tapas and what I would consider to be comfort food(burgers, pizzas and assorted steaky type dishes). Also, when you go up to order, there is an assortment of tortillas and homemade cakes and brownies etc by the till. It kind of caters for most café/bar needs in that it’s a good place to hang out and eat drink, it’s cool during the day if you want to work and there is outdoor seating out back.

This road in Bedminster doesn’t get much good press, and you have to pass pawn and money shops to reach the slightly finer establishments towards the end of the road — such as Grounded café bar, Bottelino’s(a smart Italian) and Ganesha(a lovely Indian). But with places like this popping up, the lower end of Bedminster Parade is becoming quite lively. Grounded is smart, trendy, and seems to be doing pretty well in this location. Every time I pass in the late afternoon or early evening there are at least a few people sat in the window or out at the pavement tables, and it’s great to find a place where you can enjoy a cup of coffee in the evening. I can’t review the food as I’ve only enjoyed a latte here, but I know they do serve tapas for a snack or stonebaked pizzas if you’re hungry.

Not as grounded as it thinks it is, this coffee shop screams«Bedminster is becoming gentrified, quick buy here now». It is beautifully decorated and has lots of comfy seating, If I had the choice I’d walk the extra 10 minutes to have a coffee in my fave coffee shop Hennessy’s on North Street which has more of a friendly home feel than the fashionable vibe of Grounded. I haven’t been here in the evening yet but definitely will check out the live music. Its fantastic to have a venue in the area where you can go and have a coffee /tea instead of the choice of a lemonade you’d have if you went to a pub nearby and weren’t drinking.

This newly opened café has put a fashionable spin on the predominantly ‘old school’ establishments that line Bedminster Parade. With its flashy aesthetic and sprawling presence, it is the antithesis of neighbouring old man pubs such as The White Hart. Sporting a spacious rustic interior, equipped with a wooden floor, an array of comfortably spread out coffee tables and side sofas, customers will find themselves spoilt for choice in the seating department. The food menu is also wide ranging, boasting everything from cake(and lots of it) to baguettes to main meals. Teas, coffees and a multitude of soft drinks can also be purchased here. In the evening, the bar comes alive and the place takes on a European style drinking vibe. So if you find yourself in the area, and don’t fancy supping ale in an old man’s pub, try Grounded for a more… grounding experience.
