Alioli

Alioli was so so good. Great fresh produce with a Mediterranean feel. Maria the owner was lovely and working just down the road from the shop gave me opportunity to treat myself to her food very often.
The ‘Alioli Wrap’ was fantastic; chorizo, chicken, peppers, onion and cheese. What more could you want.
It’s now been taken over and I haven’t been in since due to an office relocation but I will try and pop in soon and give an updated review.
Hopefully the menu is the same!!!

Alioli has only quite recently opened on this row of cafes and shops. I would have said that this street didn’t really need yet another café, but Alioli is such a welcome arrival. Even from their exterior décor, you get the essence of what you might expect when walking into this café — and it doesn’t disappoint.
The food and coffee’s are fresh, and aside from the great looking paninis, baguettes and sandwiches, they offer things like Spanish omelette, Italian homemade meatballs and vegetable quiches. However what I like is the little shop stand at the side of the café, where you can buy Italian imports, like pasta, pesto, sauces, tinned anchovies and things to spice up your cook-​at-​home meal.
Thumbs up to this addition to Bristol’s list of cafes.

Having returned from travels in South America I have been eager to find places where Spanish is spoken to practice my new found language skills. At Alioli (the Spanish for a traditional garlic sauce) I have the opportunity to eat Spanish as well as speak it.
Except for maybe a handful of restaurants at the higher end there are big shortages of Spanish and Italian cafes in Bristol, and these are exactly the flavours and tastes that Alioli are trying to deliver. The regular specialities are Spanish tortillas and Italian meatballs, as well as a good range of coffee and tea. Obviously they do the standard line of sandwiches and Paninis (which are also exceptional) but it is the traditional dishes that really stand out.
They tell me that if you like homemade continental food then this is the place for you.
And they can tell you this in a choice of three languages which, for me, is an added bonus!
