4500 Miles from Delhi is in the centre of Bristol, on Colston Avenue. I came here with a friend one evening two weeks before Christmas without having a reservation. They said they were busy but didn’t want to lose the business so fitted us in. The deal was that we would wait 45 minutes for the food but would have drinks and poppadoms while we waited. What actually happened is that main course was delivered at the same time as the poppadoms. My main course was chicken tak-a-tak(£12.95), which was chicken cooked in a thick spicy tomato sauce with green peppers and chilli. It tasted nice. What wasn’t nice was being sat at a table for two next to a loud, all male Christmas party of ten. Considering the options available, this was unnecessary. Presumably it just made things easier for the waiters having everyone together.

Went for a meal here the other evening and was very impressed with the food. If I was to compare it to some of the other Indian restaurants in Bristol have eaten at recently — Urban Tandoor and Myristica — I would pick 4500 Miles From Delhi as the place I would choose to return too first. Both my wife and me particularly enjoyed the vegetarian starter platter — crisp without being greasy, spicy without being overpowering and accompanied by some delicious sauces and chutneys. The portions sizes were also generous with a great selection of dishes to choose from. If I were to be really picky I would say that rice wasn’t as outstanding as the other parts of the meal, but as the rest of the meal was so good, that is far from a criticism. Definitely want to go back.

I had some poppadoms followed by the Chicken Lababdor and shared Garlic Naan and Pulao Rice with one other person. Food good, although not as flavoursome as I hoped. Atmosphere good, staff attentive and took note of who ordered what(rather than querying when the food came out) — which was very useful for a table of 16! I say table of 16… the booking was for 16 people but they only gave us a table for 12 people(managed to accommodate 13 with one person at the top of the table) — we were not amused when 2 of our friends showed up and we realised they had given us a smaller table; since when do customers need to double check the table! no other option available and we had to leave our 2 friends on a separate table on their own. They offered us a 15% discount on everything to make up for their error, although I must say, overall I am not impressed… better Indian places out there!

A group of my colleagues and I went here for dinner — ten in all — so we were able to order a great many different dishes and try them out. I will say that the rogan josh was among the best I’ve ever had, if not the best. Their papadum and other breads were fabulous. Every appetizer we shared, from samosas to chutneys, was brilliant. Oh, and their chutneys! I have no idea whether they’re homemade or not, but they were indeed the best assortment I’ve had. Hot chutney that left a pleasant heat on the back of the tongue, but didn’t interfere with taste. The same with the spices. Every single thing we had was fabulous. I’m very sorry for the people who have been disappointed, as we found it astonishingly good. Excellent service, also. Very highly recommend.

I went to this restaurant on a recommendation from the hotel. The food was very good, both the vegetarian appetizers and the main course. i would highly recommend if you are in the mood for Indian food.

Right in the centre of town opposite the hippodrome. This restaurant is large, contemporary and excellent. I went with my 9yo son who loves Indian cuisine and they made a fuss of him and he got a free drink; good customer relations. We both had starters and main course with drinks which came to £50. 20% discount from voucher cloud and we paid £40. He food was great and the portions large, we’ll be back next time I take him for a curry. X = You’ve gotta be kidding me XX = trying but not reaching the standard expected or advertised XXX = achieving the standards expected/advertised however high that might be XXXX = they’re doing something special here, above expected standards of service XXXXX = WOW! you gotta go here!

I must say that I didn’t actually get a chance to dine at 4500 miles, but it caught my eye as I was staying in a hotel just down the street. I went in to look at the menu, and scope the place out a bit and noted that it has a sophisticated, modern ambiance inside perfect for a date. The food smelled wonderful, and was priced as such as well. I think I will come back with my husband for a special meal very soon and update this review.
