Well hot news, The Rock Inn, on Rock Street has new owners! They took over the pub in November and have already made such a difference to this pub. It was really feeling sorry for itself and was begging for TLC. Sharon the new landlady really has turned this place around. She will be renaming it the Mad Hatter and it is now warm, friendly, inviting and most importantly family friendly. Watch this space as once they have completely finished the refurbishment I will be posting photos. I now would happily recommend this pub to families and cant wait for them to start serving food again.

Contrairement aux bars français, ce pub ferme assez tôt(à minuit) I had a good Pimm’s here, which didn’t taste much like alcohol but I like it that way. This pub is quite big, with 2 rooms if I’m not wrong and a terrace outside. We can even play and listen to music Thursday night in the music room upstairs. It’s too bad that it closes at midnight !

Nice, friendly pub. Thankfully new owners now, who care about the place unlike the previous owners. One recommendation to the new Rock owners, do your own food. Currently you can order food from The Swan opposite or Pizza Face, a local pizza take away. Not bad food by any means but in my opinion, bad value for money. Both, over priced. Nice pub tho’. Go to the quiz night on a Thursday night. Good laugh and the 2 guys who now own it are very welcoming and friendly. The Rock now seems to be back to how it was some time ago. A good, friendly local pub with, at last, atmosphere. Also at long last, dogs are welcome!

The Rock Inn is one of Kemp Town’s best pubs by a long way. It doesn’t look it from the outside but its pretty huge inside so a great place to meet for Sunday lunch etc. In the summer, the patio is absolutely price-less and keeps the sun for a good part of the day. The bar-b-cues are fantastic with really tasty burgers served at reasonable prices. If you fancy a trip round a few different, more cosmopolitan establishments that are out of the main town area, this is an ideal place to start. You’re right near to the seafront so can have a nice walk in afterwards.

The Rock is a huge pub situated at the back of Kemp Town. One of he oldest pubs in the area the Rock has been a boozer since 1787, the old tradtionalness of the pub add to its cosy atmosphere. It has a lot of old features lie the original well, open fire places and wood panelling. Its location means it attracts the usual eclectic mix of Kemp Town boho types and there always a friendly reception received from the staff and the customers. The menu consist of traditional British pub grub including black pudding starters and beef and ale pie.

A lot has changed since I last reviewed The Rock. 1. It is now under new management and Ben & Josh have done a sterling job of making the pub their own. 2. It has undergone redecoration, that has made the whole place feel brighter, cleaner and nicer. Other than that, it is still a large, spacious pub, with nice beer garden(inc. covered smoking corner), pool room and private hire basement bar. Bar staff are very pleasant with a warm welcome for everyone. Food served daily. Quiz night every Thursday from 8pm and well worth checking out. Poker night every Wednesday from 8pm, that is always busy. Book club once a month. Live music starting to happen on a regular basis/ Happy hour from 4 — 8 week nights with all tap beers at £2.75 With all the changes that have been made to The Rock, I can now thoroughly recommend this as one of(if not, the) best pubs in the Kemptown end of Brighton. If you’re in Brighton, it is well worth checking out.
