Really nice and small pub near to Churchill Square. It was very nice to drink a cider/beer and the table in wood in this small street. Of course it’s very small but it’s all the charm of this place ! I was here during the afternoon so I don’t know how is it in the evening but I’d like to try one of the tequila they offer one day!

I liked the Pull and Pump a lot, despite the fact that it was never where I planned to go while in Brighton(in fact, I had limited plans, so my flexibility allowed me to find such a great place with the help of the Unilocal app). I liked sitting in the window, drinking my pint of cider, and catching up with friends as the candle on our table dripped wax over its holder and the old wooden table showed the signs of many-a-pint past. I liked the generally local feeling of the place – it was quiet and small and the kind of place you ‘tuck in’ to, in the proper English meaning of the word. I liked the prices, refreshing after the outrageous pains of London spending, and I liked the service which was nice and polite but not intrusive. Basically, I liked the Pull and Pump!

A lovely pub set just off of busy western road and offers the chance to have a quiet pint on a busy shopping expedition. The offer tex mex food is also welcome on a day out, and it’s good! A massive varity of tequila on offer as well as many ales and lagers always satifys! A reasonably priced establishment with friendly happy memners of staff, a good all rounder!

I found this pub entirely by accident after getting lost while walking down Western Road, since then i’ve come back on numerous occasions. Despite being located next to a Ladbrokes and a grotty looking housing estate, this pub has a good atmosphere, relatively friendly staff and a tasteful décor. The less than great location does mean that the outdoor seating area probably won’t be your first choice, although it is ok. None the less, the pub is really nice. There are wooden benches throughout the darkly lit room, and candles on most tables to add a bit of extra atmosphere.

A small pub close to Brighton’s Churchill shopping centre, just off the Western Road. Outside, there’s a small forecourt patio with tables, almost exclusively taken over on my visits by smokers. Inside the décor can be described as wood, wood and more wood; there are dark wood floors, dark-wood panelled walls, the bar is dark wood and so is the furniture. There’s one large room, divided by a central servery. They have three hand-pumps on the bar, and on my visit were serving Shepherd Neame’s ‘Spitfire’ and Sharp’s Brewery ‘Doom Bar’, which isn’t a bad choice. But their speciality is Tequila — they stock a staggering 50 different types. They also do food at lunchtimes — mostly Tex-Mex — which has a good reputation, although I haven’t sampled it myself. Bar staff are friendly and efficient, and they have a very mixed clientele through the day, from shoppers of all ages, to a mostly younger crowd in the evening, although even then there’s a smattering of locals and visitors. On weekend evenings, being so close to West Street, it can get the odd group of blokes or girls on a boozy night out, but they seem to move on rather than linger. The only real downer is that their toilets could do with a bit of a sprucing up… Overall, not a bad little pub, and with a bit of character for so central a location.

Great little pub tucked away just off Western Road so ideal if you want to run away from your wife while she’s shopping and grab a couple of beers. They have a really nice little area at the front to sit outside but its usually full up. Inside it has a really nice old-fashioned décor and a nice, relaxed atmosphere. There’s a bookies literally opposite so ideal if you fancy a little flutter on a horse or an X-factor contestant. They also have a huge tequila menu in here. I’m not a huge fan of the stuff but you’ll be surprised at some of these, they are really quite nice!

A nice little pub right next to all the main shops on Western road and Churchill Square so it’s perfect if you fancy a drink after a day of shopping. It’s got an outside patio area at the front which always looks busy when the weather is warm. The drinks are quite cheap with a good selection and the staff seem down to earth and friendly. It has quite a calm feel in there, definitely a place where you could relax with a nice drink. I have only visited this pub on one occasion but will be sure to pop into this place again.

This is a cracking little pub, in a perfect location for a post or mid shopping pint and food. The interior is nothing particularly unusual, being a large rectangular room with a good range of seating. The staff though are always very friendly and there is a good range of drinks, especially, as others have noted a huge range of tequila. Now, I have to admit that tequila isn’t really my thing, and is very likely to make me sick, so I can’t comment on the quality, but friends who have are always very impressed. They also do a reasonable range of food, with decent quality pub grub available.

the location of the Pull and Pump has always been a winner for me, its down a side street off Western Road. After a days trawling through the shops any savvy Brighton shopper will always end up in Primark, so the pub is great to get a well deserved pint in after a hard days grafting, i mean shopping. Its also right next to Brighton’s Little Theatre so its great for pre-show food and post show drinks. I think its trying to a be a kind of tequila bar disguised as a ale house, as wierdly there a tequila menu with about 50 different shots to choose from. The interior is very traditional with old style wooden furniture and candles, the clientele are varied due to its location and can on occasion get a bit chavvy. There’s a bookmaker next door so that can attract the gambling addicts and wall starers but its generally a really friendly atmosphere.

The Pull and Pump is a nice pub just tucked away off of Western Road, which should be visited for one reason, and one reason only: the mass consumption of Tequilla. This place is without a shadow of a doubt the best place to enjoy that lovely little Mexican concoction, with at least fifty, if not more, different varieties to try, taste, and promptly vomit. Prices range from £2−5, with Patron, most American tourists’ favourite, costing £4. Although the aforementioned is The Pull and Pump’s main selling point, like most pubs they do serve other drinks, although the prices aren’t fantastic. Red bull costs £4.50, a pint of Hop £2.80, and a pint of Red Stripe £3.20. Cocktails are available for around £3.95.
