What happened guys? I used to eat at Grubbs regularly… because of the quality of the burger meat. They used to be second to none. This is possibly an exception to the rule, but the double burger I ordered had a lot of gristle and sinew in the meat, forcing me to pull it out from between my teeth a number of times before I could finish eating the burger. I’m really surprised because they used to be really good :-(

I’ve lived in Brighton for 8−9years now. Time flies! Grubbs has always been a popular take away burger place. Yesterday was the first ever time I had one. 1. The inside interior is a bit grimy. Looks dated and grotty. It needs a revamp and Brighting up a bit. They’ve got so many posters of different club nights and events going on in Brighton, i feel as if I’m in student halls — where you decorate your walls with anything you can find! I once had a poster of pizza huts new logo. LOL. Next to a map of all the pubs in Brighton. 2. I found the staff on this occasion REALLY peculiar. Having spoken to others this apparently is a one off, but this review is about my experience. We walked in, the staff looked at us as if we’d walked in during closing time, or as if they were REALLLLLLY shocked to see us, like I was a old friend who’d they not seen and didn’t really want to bump into. Anyway, whatever. I then asked what veggie burgers do you do,. The girl was like, well all of them, I looked at her as if to say., can you elaborate. She did… By pointing at a poster stating what was in the burger. I then tried to make convo. I was awkward as per. I said to one of the guys… Weird question but where did you get those jars from. He was like YES… Very strange question! I replied, well I’ve got similar ones but I’ve just broken mine… he then said. Don’t know — boss got them. He was polish so his English was slightly broken. Then I said,(I’m so awkward when other people are awkward back!) … Oh I thought you were the boss! You have a sense of authority about you. He then stared me right in the eye… And in a cold way said… I have to. It sent shivers down my spine. I thought, am I staring in the face of a killer? So I smiled and said… I’ll have chips with my burger too place. 3.So I chose the Malaysian. Peanut butter, lettuce, salsa… Nice! Weird to have peanut butter in a burger but I loved it, really unusual! Bit spicy but it was really good! The veggie burger was so tasty and it was big! I went for a double £4.50 not bad! The bun wasn’t amazing quality! Not like burger brothers. Chips were alright. Again. Not sure what the fuss is about! But then, I’m never much of a take out kinda guy! 4. I won’t be going back in a hurry!

It was one of those evenings where, you’ve just come out the cinema and you are craving something totally greasy and unhealthy. What better a place to go to then ‘Grubbs Burgers’? Well it was far better than expected and far too good to be put on the same level as a local kebab shop or chippy! It was the Burger King cross Picasso of Burger bars, totally delicious, flame grilled, char grilled, work of art. The triple burger is enough for two people though! It’s massive! Generous portion sizes, great food, brilliant value.

Don’t go there on a Friday night just before closing! Grubbs has gone seriously downhill. I used to go there for a good bit of late grub. However after my latest experience I won’t be going there anytime soon. I went there Friday night after having finished a gig. Having waited a good 15−20mins. for my burger it turned to be the wrong burger. Rather than fixing the wrong order they tried to say that I was in the wrong. Because they had shut everything down all they offered was a refund for the wrong burger(how generous!!!). So, at the end of the ordeal I left with onion rings that I had spent nearly half an hour waiting for. Unless you want to terrible service, mixed up orders and a hassle at the end of the night avoid Grubbs for a late night snack.

Ea genial en relación calidad-precio. Las hamburguesas son 100% caseras y por £5 tienes un menú completo más grande y saludable que el de un McDonalds

A Brighton institution with a great range of meat and veggie burgers but unfortunately very overpriced, overrated and not even that nice. Thin, overcooked slabs of bland meat only rescued by inventive choices of toppings.

If you’ve been in Brighton and Hove for longer than a month and you haven’t yet been to Grubbs — you’re doing something wrong! This isn’t a Brighton institution for nothing! My particular fave is the one down on London Road — despite the rather insalubrious surroundings! — but they all offer the same varied menu. All the burgers are available as meat or veggie, and the choice of toppings are among the best in the city. Whether you like a bog standard cheese burger, or want to add peanut butter and banana(yes, really!), Grubbs is the place to go. Especially good for the end of the night, the food here has given me the energy to wobble off the the taxi rank on many an evening…

This is an institution of Brighton make no mistake. Many a times before a night out, or on the back end of one, Grubbs has sorted me out. They have an impressive range of burgers and there is no distinction between meat or veggie types. You simply choose the type and whether it is a meat or veggie pattie. The burgers are stacked with filling, but I would have liked to see the veggie patties grilled rather than deep fried. This is a small niggle and your order will always be cooked fresh, including the fries. They also serve some awesome milkshakes, which I would recommend. The staff are general Brightonians, but the service and preparation is conscientious. The diner can get pretty busy at pub kicking out time, but they do have a fair number of tables. The diner is also a good place to see what is happening in the city over the next few months; there a re loads of fliers and suchlike for upcoming events. Handy to have a little check whilst you await your burger to be cooked. If you are wanting food on the go then this is probably one of the top spots in the city to call upon.

Infamous across Brighton and Hove, Grubbs has now spread to a number of locations within the city. Selling itself as a gourmet burger company, I excitedly stopped by on a recent walk home. I really was so disappointed; the burger and chips were exactly what I’d expect to find being sold in any burger van in the country. If i’m being really harsh, I would much rather of a had a Burger King or Mcdonalds. The burger wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t gourmet or luxury and it certainly didn’t justify the £5 price tag. Look up GBK if you want good burgers.

5 stars here. Found the Grubbs right after I relocated to Yorc Place and tried it out. Awesome Burgers, awesome Shakes and I would kill for the onion rings. Try it out, I bet you’ll love it

Yes. This is without a doubt the only place to purchase some fast food fodder in Brighton. The burgers are really tasty indeed and pretty big in size. Grease-wise, they do tend to drip a little but thats what you pay for isn’t it? The chips are great, but its worth spending a little extra and going for the wedges and dipping them in some bar-b-cue sauce. Perfect place to head to after a night on the tiles and won’t leave you with that awful kebab taste in your mouth in the morning.

Ah Grubbs, any journey home from a party or something similar is worth a Grubbs detour: the tastiest burgers in the world, one of the best things to eat around midnight in most districts of Brighton, and surprisingly cheap for the privilege. There are about 4 different Grubb’s joints around town(I think, could be 5…), and they are all great alternative to the midnight kebab you know you shouldn’t have. Sadly, like everything popular in Brighton, they are often over-busy, and you have to wait for ages for any kind of service: a shame. However, if it’s 2 in the morning, you don’t care how busy it is, you just want your tasty burger, and who could blame you? If you can wait for it, the burgers here are really excellent: everything you could hope for from a traditional burger, plus being about twice the size, and if you get it with any sort of extra, there’s almost as much of the extra as of the burger: a fantastic deal even at high prices, and everything here is under £5. I also recommend the wedges: brilliant, if a little pricey at over £2. It has to be said that these aren’t the healthiest burgers I’ve ever had: the grease level here is remarkably high. Sadly, I think that’s what makes them such good hangover cures: something to do with the grease absorbing the alcohol or something like that, I’m sure. Anyway, this is the best thing after a heavy night, although I recommend going at the dead of night: you might be served within 5 minutes if you’re lucky!

If you have a craving for a burger in the daytime, I’d recommend meat lovers checking out Gourmet Burger Kitchen and veggies checking out Red Veg. After the pubs and bars have closed however, there’s only one place to go and that’s Grubbs. As the name suggests, we’re talking tasty but unexceptional burgers served with lettuce, tomato and whatever extras you want from pickles, jalapenos and BBQ sauces to bacon, cheese and onions. This particular branch of the beloved burger company is situated at the bottom of the Lanes and draws a lively crowd of students, post graduates and locals. There’s tables where you can sit and scoff your chosen burger and fries but be warned, it gets quite lively Friday and Saturday nights with groups of party revellers in various states of ecstacy and agony!

I told my boss that I was craving a burger, and told her I was planning on just buying a microwavable one from The Co-Op. This statement floored here. She did this 360 degree spin, shook her head in a comical fashion, stomped on the floor, and said: «You have to get a Grubbs burger.» Truth be told, I missed her reply on initial hearing. I was more concerned about her overly dramatic reaction to my microwavable burger statement, and just stared at her. After that feeling passed, I said, «What did you say?» And then she replied, «Grubbs.» So that’s where I went. Grubbs is definitely the best burger I had in Brighton. It’s one of the freshest, most delicious tasting burgers I have ever encountered. They have a load of toppings to choose from, but any combination of toppings would definitely result in a great tasting burger. If you like burgers, you have to go here. After having a Grubbs burger, I understand why my boss was excited, but I still don’t think it warranted a silly spin, followed by a silly head nod, followed still by an even sillier stomp on the floor.

I love Grubbs. There are branches in Kemptown and Western Rd too but this is my local one. They serve up proper good quality burgers that actually taste like real meat, not frozen, processed patties of unidentifiable origin like so many of these kebab/burger/chips type places do. The best thing though, is the wide variety of toppings — not just a choice of cheeseburgers or plain here! I normally end up sticking to bbq but there are many other options.

This has got to be the best burger bar ever! They do every kind and every flavour of burger ever! From blue cheese to Mexican. the best part is is that you can get any of the flavours beef style or veggie style! I’ve never eaten such a nice veggie burger before!

Grubbs is in my opinion THEONLY place to get a burger in Brighton. It’s a dangerous place to walk past late at night, especially if you’ve been drinking and have the drunken munchies! Whether you’re carnivore or veggie, Grubbs will have something to satisfy your craving. Although I’m not a vegetarian really I always get a veggie burger here, simply because they are so damn tasty. Let’s face it, veggie burgers can be dry and tasteless, but Grubbs know how to do it right! The options are endless, there are about 20 different burgers to choose from and all can be doubled or tripled up, if you’re ravenous. I always play it safe and get either the veggie cheese or the veggie garlic mayo but there are some weird and wonderful options if you’re feeling adventurous, including the Malaysian(with peanut butter) and the Hawaiian(with pineapple)! The fries are delicious, especially dipped in their BBQ sauce or garlic mayo and they also make delicious milkshakes. One final recommendation(before I start to feel like an official Grubbs ambassador!) — try the wedges with blue cheese dip, they are simply divine!

Great for real, proper old school fast food burgers. No fancy pretentious burgers on olive foccacia here, just meat, cheese and bun. Tend to end up here after a night in the pub, and as post-pub food cannot beaten. I am salivating just thinking about it.

The best burgers in Brighton by far. Beef burgers and veggie burgers. Their potato wedges are also fantastic. Not only are the burgers otherworldly but they have the wildest toppings I’ve encountered before or since. My favourite was the Maylasian, which had lettuce, salsa and peanut butter. Yes, peanut butter. I was skeptical when I first heard of it but I swear I was converted the instant I took my first bite. You will too. That is just one of 10ish different kinds of burgers you can get. Simply put, if you go to Brighton and don’t get Grubbs you are a fool.
