Fountain Head is located in an exciting neighbourhood of London and I certainly enjoyed the service, the menu and the prices were reasonable.

The Fountainhead is a great pub situated bang in the centre of the Lanes. Perfect for catching up with friends, this pub is always a great place to meet. There always seems to be tables free during the week and there’s never too much of a wait at the bar to be served. The staff are really nice in here too! Very smiley and warm. I’ve been in here on countless occasions and there’s a definite charm to the place. It’s by no means shiny and new though! I sat down on a couch last time I was there and almost got devoured by it. There was a cushion so destroyed I can fathom what had happened to it and springs angrily greeted me as I sat… So this place may not have the most awesome couches in the world, but hey! They can be forgiven because they serve great booze and(bar the terror-stricken couch) the décor is actually lovely and very comfortable indeed. I usually try and nab a table in the window as this is pretty much the perfect place to people watch! The place is nice and bright, too, which can be a nice change from some of the darker little pubs dotted around the place. There are a few seats outside for the sunnier months, but no many so these go a little quick when the sun’s out! All in all, it’s a great wee spot for a pint and a chill!

I really like this pub in the North Laines. It has a great charm to it. It always has a good atmosphere. I have been here on many occassions, mid week for a quiet catch up with a friend, and Friday and Saturday nights with larger groups of mates. It’s not the biggest of pubs so if you intend to come here with a larger group try and ring in advance and book a table like I did. It could do with a few bits of new furniture, based on the sofa that’s completely collapsed and a few not so comfortable benches. But I turn a blind eye to it because I like the feel of the place. I can’t quite explain why, but go check it out and see!

Good classic Brighton pub. There’s nothing negative to say about this place. Would recommend it to anyone.

The Fountain Head is one if those great all-round pubs suitable for every occasion. Meeting colleagues after work, drinks with the girls on a Saturday night, a first date, or Sunday lunch — this pub can do the lot! The décor is in the traditional Brighton style — open spaces and wooden tables(it seems to work, why change it?). It has a pretty chilled out vibe and is altogether a nice drinking establishment to spend your time in. PS they serve Kopparberg, a Swedish fruit cider that tastes like pop — try it, it’s delish!

The Fountain Head is yet another pub situated in the North Laines. There are a number of wooden tables scattered around the bar area which gives it the unique feeling of a cross between an army eating hall and some sort of wild west bar. If sitting on wood isn’t for you though, fear not as there are a number of comfy sofas dotted around the corners and a homely fire which, after getting soaking wet traipsing around the city, is always a great place to relax infront of with a well-earned pint. While the Fountain Head does have your standard Brighton beers on offer, it also has a wide range of ales which, much to my personal delight, included Cheddar Valley cider which is guaranteed to blow your head off after two pints. A decent place to pop into for a few pints of real ale and cider after a hard days work in the town, and a special mention to the food — although I’ve never had anything in there, it does look bloody brilliant. Which it should do, for the price of it!

The Fountainhead has a certain austerity that is deserving of its namesake, yet on a night out in there it manages to feel both cosy and relaxed. They have a fire which in the winter months can fend off frostbite, in the Summer there is a lovely outside area that benefits from its position in the South Laines, a great spot for outdoor drinking in the more sunny months. They have a great selection of beers, some very nice wines and the usual spirits one would expect. The interior is nicely done as they have managed to keep a pub feel whilst making it modern and spacious. My favourite thing about this place is the broad mixture of types it attracts, so it never feels that you are about to experience one kind of crowd making for an interesting evening, also helped along by joining in with the quiz or open mic night.

Ive never had a bad meal in this place. The food and the service really are impeccable and on that basis it really seems to attract a good crowd of people. It can get quite busy at the weekends so you do have to wait for a table now and again so don’t go if your absolutely starving. We had a fantastic roast dinner there last week. I had the roast beef and it was perfectly cooked with all the trimmings. Nice and pink in the middle and the spuds were nice and fluffy. Its not one of the cheapest placed to dine but in my opinion, its worth every single penny!

One of many popular pubs you can find in the North Lanes, the Fountainhead is a very likable. The interior is made up of tasteful exposed brickwork and varnished wooden floors(the done thing in Brighton). They have a few sofas as well as the wooden tables and chairs, adding a homely comfort. This is topped off with the open fire that is perfectly fitting for the glum winter days. They offer a full food menu, along with a selection of Roasts on Sunday. I’d recommend visiting on the weekends so you can see the Fountainhead when it’s busy; the customers all tend to be very friendly and there is usually a good atmosphere about the place.

The Fountain Head is another great North Laines pub, I think its a chain but only because its faux rustic décor. Its have big wooden tables, open fires, chesterfields and a huge Buddha statue by the door. Its quiet a cosy winter pub with candles on the tables and a very mini outside seating area at the side for the warmer months. The menu is reasonable with nachos. burgers and traditional pub grub but done very well. It can get busy due to its location so run from the office if you’re going for an after work drink.

When you come from a town where all pints are £1.90 it can be quite a shock to the system when the barmaid asks for £3.65 of your hard cash from a pint of Kronenburg. But I understand the glory days are now gone and that seems to be in and around the general price Brighton price. Being at the bottom of North Road gives The Fountainhead a perfect opportunity to be the vibrant and often busy place that it is, and with 3 for 2 on shots and their cocktail of the week it attracts and obtains a hearty drinker.

Vodka and tonic? Whisky and ginger ale? Rum and coke? Ice cold Sol? Or a pint of Guiness and black? It usually takes so long to get served at The Fountain Head that I find myself running through a list of the different drink options. Sometimes it’s so rammed I give up and decide to high tail it to The Basketmakers round the corner instead. Usually however, I don’t mind waiting as the pub is warm and cosy with a bustling atmosphere. They serve late night munchies too — like nachos with cheese and jalapenos — and the music is usually pretty good. Note to the bar staff — If I got served quicker, I’d go to 4 stars!

The Fountainhead is a great central pub, popular with the after-work crowd, meaning it can be busy, even during the week. From the outside the pub is striking, with a black and cream paint-job that makes it quite distinctive. There is a small outdoor seating area around the corner from the main entrance, which is a really nice place to sit and drink on a summer’s day(particularly as it’s not on the main road). The interior of the pub is equally pleasant. It’s not often I like newly renovated pubs, as they so often feel stripped of their character. However, the Fountain Head has kept it interesting, with exposed brick work, fairy lights and a log pile. They also have interesting statues dotted around, including one or two Buddhas, which I believe are a nod to the building’s past(before housing a pub, the space was used for spiritual teaching and practice). Although the pub does get busy, the bar is big, meaning you can usually get a spot and not wait too long to be served. The drinks are pretty standard price-wise and the staff are unfailingly friendly and efficient. They have a good selection of draught lagers and bottled ciders.

The Fountain Head is situated right in the middle of the North Laines meaning is always packed full of locals and visitors alike. Because of its location it tends to attract all sorts of boho beauties but it not pretentious in any way. Its exposed brickwork and leather sofas give it a cosy winter feel, but its outside seating means its ideal in any weather. The general décor has a Asian twist with a big Buddha head The menu offers all the usual yum-me-ups like chili, nachos and jackets etc. They have an extensive wine list as well as all the Brighton favourites like pear cider. If your looking for a relaxed atmosphere is the hubbub of the N. Laines then the Fountainhead is the place to go.

The Fountain Head is a handsome pub from the outside. I use the masculine form here because the colour-scheme and appearance are more masculine than«pretty». Enter this handsome abode and you’ll find an equally handsome interior. A softly lit space that is perfect to enjoy a drink and feel the pulse of the city, without being knocked off your feet by boozy boys and birds. I would definitely bring a date to somewhere like here if I was the romantic type. Instead, I took my dad and we sat outside, where, incidentally, they have great heaters, which is nice for the colder months — of which there are many in the UK.

This place had real character. But they’ve knocked a wall through and extended. Now it’s just a really noisy bar. If they sorted out the acoustics it would be great.

The Fountain Head is fairly new pub — it’s only been here for a couple of years. It’s in the North Laine area of Brighton, next to Bill’s café, and just 100m from the Basketmakers pub. Before it was the Fountain Head it was an odd sort of shop that seemed to sell T-shirts, spraycans, decorated skateboards etc. Or at least it tried to sell these things — it always seemed empty when I went past. The building, on the corner of North Road and Cheltenham Place, is probably Victorian so it may well have been a pub originally. The Fountain Head is a Zel place, one of many good quality pubs owned by Brighton’s Zelgrain chain. Like other Zel pubs, it’s a very competent place but hasn’t got a great deal of character, hence only 4 stars.(Don’t get me wrong it’s not soulless like some other chains’ pubs can be.) The food, at typical pub prices, is quite good and many people come here for that alone. The pub has a full five stars from the council’s food hygiene inspectorate(Stars on their Doors?). They usually have a couple of real ales on last time I was there they had Harveys and Old Peculier — and I’ve never had a duff pint. There’s a draught cider as well(Old Rosie?), plus other typical beers, wine etc. The toilets are quite good for a pub everything’s there, and everything works(hot water, soap, dryer etc.) and they’re fairly clean. Piped music is at an average loudness level, usually tasteful pop(and that means you will to visit to work out what that means). It has a cosy open fire(that’s a real fire, not a fake gas-fuelled one). It’s fuelled by wood logs and the staff are very conscientious about keeping it going. There’s free wi-fi provided by Loose Connection.

New kid on the block this one. I’ve spent a few enjoyable evening in here. Food seems good, sourced local product. Relaxed atmosphere and nice décor. Slightly off the beaten track for the town centre crowd, which is perhaps why it retains its popularity. Works as both a venue to drop in for a few beers on the way to town, but also just to pitch up and spend the night here exclusively.
