I go into Efes far too regularly! tasty and cheep all the regular kebab suspects and veggie options too … they never seem to have the bean burger… they have a great chilli sauce and only ever had one occasion of slightly under done chips. i recommend it

This place is really good. I love burgers and their meat is so juicy and full of taste that makes me crave it just by writing this review. I’d recommend either a double or triple cheeseburger or a chicken doner sandwich. It’s clean and has good staff as well.

Efes Kebab brings back fond memories of clubbing down the Pav Tav back when they held the Pit nights. I would regularly stumble back from a night of rocking to my studio flat on Montpelier Road. I recently returned to my old favourite after a night out at the Engine Room’s to see a mate’s band play. I caught them a little earlier in the evening than usual, so there was less of a drunken clientele to contend with. They serve all you would expect from a kebab establishment, but Joseph is right to identify the shawarma as the meaty jewel of the menu. Sadly, I was not eating meat at the time, so opted for cheesy chips, but I convinced my friend to go for the shawarma. He enthusiastically tucked with no complaints, so it looks like they have maintained their standards. The staff is the main draw of the place and they are still as chatty and friendly as ever. I guess in the kebab trade this really helps with drunken blokes babbling for doners at 2am, but you feel that the cooks at Efe’s generally enjoy a little chat and banter with their clientele whilst they work. The area has a lot of similar late serving shops to catch the end of night trade, but you could do far worse than stumble into Efes should the late night hunger strike.

Yet another Kebab shop Efes is nothing other than a run of the mill fast food joint. Not only do they spell their name differently on signs and leaflets but the kebabs aren’t anything special. There’s nothing wrong with it but like every other place like it, there’s no real attention to detail or quality. They know what a drunk wants and they provide it. Various meats and treats are offered and to be honest the service is good. I just can’t get over the sheer abundance of kebab shops. I’m running out of things to say about places like this.

Due to some amateurish spelling inconsistencies Efes(or Effes) Kebab sustains a self-inflicted foot injury from the moment eyes are laid upon it. However, aesthetic perfection is not a necessary feature of this place, as it’s purely and simply a run of the mill, drunken munchy quenching Kebab shop. Situated on top of the restaurant-laden Preston Street, Efes is the first decent place you’ll see heading Hoveward from Brighton city centre. Offering the usual range of doner, shish and halal meat it’ll satisfy most indiscriminate kebab fans. The also serve burgers and fries although I’d rather go to Grubbs for such things. Essentially Efes is everything you’d expect from a Kebab shop.

I have tried one thing from Efes Kebabs and that is the chicken shawarma kebab. For me, there is not much point in looking at anything else on the menu because this is the pinnacle of kebab cuisine. If you don’t know what a shawarma kebab is I will tell you. It consists of all your usual kebab ingredients — shaved meat, salad, onions, chilli sauce, garlic mayo(last two are optional), but rather than being in an open pitta bread, it is wrapped and rolled, making the eating a more rounded and less messy experience. This is simply great, as is the price: £2.50 and throw in a canned drink on top, you’re looking at £3.20 for a piece of take-out heaven. I am sure there are other kebab shops that do the shawarma, but I have yet to find one, so Efes stays King of Kebabs until its right to the thrown is contested! De-lish! P. s. I would’ve taken a picture of the delightful wrap, but I ate it before I could get my camera out!
