Good food with good sized protions. It is a small little place with a nice feel. The staff were very kind and helpful, but a bit odd(in a fun way).

I had a pizza from here last night, it was nothing special and had lots of burnt bits hiding under the cheese which was an interesting surprise. I also just got back from Rome and this pizza is definitely not Italian style, more like frozen pizza :-(

This is good, solid Italian! We ordered takeaway for our first try here, we got the value meal 2, which is an awesome deal for 2 pastas, a garlic cheese pizza bread, and 2 desserts. Everything was delish! The penne supreme was so gorgeous with huge chunks of juicy chicken breast. The penne marinara was well balanced with a nice seafood mix and little hits of pepper and chilli. The garlic cheese pizza bread is yummy, I can see me getting addicted to it. And I certainly can’t complain about the desserts either. All in all a great meal, I’ll be going back.

A great little place if you like pizza. Freshly made in front of your very eyes. A decent selection to chose from and tasty at that. You can eat in or have a takeaway. They also have a deal with the pub across the road(Lord Nelson) so you can have a pint in there and order a pizza to eat whilst you drink. The rest of the menu looks good, mostly Italian, but they do a fry up in mornings. A good place, especially if you get an outdoor table in the sunshine

If you’re bored with all-the-time-the-same take away pizza with nothing on it, you MUST come here. I poped in the with my mates once, and we ordered two pizzas, which filled up four stomachs. Prices are awesome, around £7-£10 per pizza. You can also get salads and very nice desserts there. What made me so fascinated were the pizzas themselves. There are plenty of options for everyones taste(also vegetarians), from the boring margherita to awesome ones, with artichokes, asparagus, eggs, etc. Combinations of toppings are great, and they are also very generous. Absolutelly yummy! The great advantage is that you can bring your own alcohol, which makes this place even cheaper, however, at £1 cork charge per each drinking person. Agmosphere is pretty chilled there, light and cozy.

Friendly staff and excellent value for money make this a spot that is worth your patronage. I had pizza and salad which was delicious with the only possible complaint being a slight overloading of cheese on the pizza.

Yum yum! Very tasty pizzas from the loveliest owner. He’s sweet and personal and you can get your pizza personalised as much as you want or need. Very recommended!

Caffe Aldo, one of the newer cafes on Trafalgar Street, is a really pleasant alternative to some of the other cafes in the area, plus offering a fuller, more restaurant-like menu. The food is excellent, the atmosphere great, and the location extremely useful before jumping on or after jumping off a train. A nice, old-fashioned Italian café: well worth a little visit. Back home in Germany, places like this exist all over the place. Over here, the café culture has been much more influenced by the French and American models: coffee, tea(if you’re lucky), sandwiches, baguettes… that kind of thing. Aldo is a much more traditional Italian set-up: plenty of food available, almost at a restaurant level, but this is not necessarily a sit-down locale. You’re certainly welcome to: there’s a pleasant little seating arrangement, and I really like the rustic, Italian atmosphere, created by the light yellows, reds and big open glass bar, but you don’t need to sit or stay for long. A nice mixture: restaurant and café. The food fits into that mix as well: slices of pizza, the occasional meal if you fancy sitting for long, generous sandwiches… Everything tastes great, and is wonderfully authentic: something you don’t see very often with Italian places in this country. The pizza and the pasta aren’t huge and soggy-based, or mushy and cheese-drenched: no, this is proper Italian food, and done very well: I didn’t realise how much I missed the taste. If you’re in the area, and fancy somewhere to sit for coffee and maybe some lunch, Aldo is definitely a good place to start.

I chose the Aldo Café on Trafalgar for my first lunch break from City College. It’s only a five minute walk and offers a huge and cheap selection of smaller Italian meals. Pizzas, pastas, Panini and salads are available for eat in or take away. I went with a vegetarian sandwich, but watching several customers come in for slices of pizza made me eager to return for what’s clearly the most popular option. The sandwich was good, though — toasted and with a generous amount of tasty mozza. I also ordered a tea, and was delighted that it came with two tiny biscuits on the side. Nice touch! It was a bit chilly inside on account of the door being propped open — I’m sure this was to entice passersby with the yummy Italian smells — and the seating wasn’t entirely comfortable. I was sitting on a wooden bench with a cushion propped up behind me. Therefore, with good, cheap food and a less than comfy set up, I’d recommend Aldo for take away meals.

I’ve had the pizza from here and it was pretty good– the cheese was good quality, the toppings were fresh and tasty. There was a good choice of pizzas as well, with an amazing looking calzone– all served up in an American pizza café style, where you can buy a huge slice or you can order a freshly made small pizza. My only quibble was that there wasn’t enough tomato sauce and that the base– Italian style thin and crispy base– was a bit overcooked and a bit tooooo crispy! It’s a good place to go if you have a craving for pizza at lunch– as you can grab and go for a reasonable price. There are tables to sit-in but the atmosphere feels a little like a fish bowl for some reason, I guess because not very many people sit-in…which is a shame.

I’ve only ever had takeaway from here but the food is lovely. Lovely thin and crispy bases and tasty fresh ingredients for the toppings. All for a reasonable price. The only down side is that the middle of the pizzas can be a little too sloppy.
