Really lovely little nail bar. It’s easy to walk past or mistake it for a nik-nak shop as they also sell a bunch of cool Chinese stuff. I’ve been a few times now in a desperate attempt to stop biting my nails by keeping them covered with falsies. The ladies here have been really helpful, friendly and patient with me every time. They’ve even been kind enough to devote two people to filing and applying my nails so that I can squeeze an in-fill appointment into my lunch break I feel like a princess! They shape the nails themselves and are also very talented at a variety of hand-applied nail art. Their prices are reasonable and I never feel it’s too much of a chore to go, which is saying something seeing as I have the attention span of a flea and get bored easily. The salon next door looks flashier, but I felt like I had a really dedicated, personal experience here.

These guys are like the tattoo artists of the nail world. Frankly, I had no idea that such an art to nail painting exsited until my friend brought me to Chou Chou recently to get her nails done. This is a Japanese-inspired salon which is beautifully decorated with oriental ornaments and art, stripped floors, lanterns and zen nail desks complete with cushions and Maneki Neko cat. The complete antithesis to the pink-themed champagne bars, thankfully. The technicians themselves work wonders with their varnishes and adhesive flowers although I decided to go for a plain manicure. I never thought I’d say this, but there’s quite a skill involved in nail decorating!
