All I can say is air con on the shop floor, changing rooms none. Worse than a sauna.

Every time I walk past Bhs, I’m amazed its still going. Everything about the store suggests its still the eighties from the tired branding and layouts to the customer service. I visited this branch with my mum recently and she seemed as disappointed and disillusioned with it as I was. The home-ware department is like a safer, older Debenhams and the women and mens fashion hasn’t changed in years. It doesn’t bother me that they don’t seem as obsessed with following trends as some of the other department stores but the cut and styles of their shirts and jumpers aren’t particularly flattering, whatever your size. If the other stores are as unimaginative as Brighton’s Bhs, I think it’s time for a re-think. And a fast one.

I can’t quite believe I clicked the 3 star button for this notoriously frumpy and bland British high street staple, maybe my grandparents — who love the place — are having an influence! But I feel you have to hand it to BHS for trying — their clothes are gradually edging towards the more modern(although they seem to be cut for size 14+), there are actually some quite nice shoes — ranging from basic work pumps to well made leather boots, and importantly, they still manage to keep their prices reasonable.
