Great little gallery in central Brighton. This street is littered with good shops and a few galleries. I actually really don’t like art galleries, but this one peaked my interest with good music and a busy crowd inside. Lots of fun pieces and a wide range of different styles. Some fairly affordable prints and originals are for sale. Staff are friendly and the vibe is great. Definitely worth a visit.

Art Republic has great stock but don’t be fooled by the owners charming, friendly approach — he is generally only interested when you are buying. Over the past 13 years I have bought many pieces from them, I always knew he wasn’t particularly genuine but there is no denying he stocks great art and so I just focussed on the pieces I wanted, rather than falling for his BS! However over the past few years I have heard so many disgruntled friends/locals talk about the lack of customer care if you ever have to return anything or have an issue with pieces you’ve bought., Sure enough when I had some problems with prints recently(that were framed and had buckled) he wasn’t really interested in helping and the smiley«can’t do enough for you/get your card out» exterior fast slipped away as I feared it would. I won’t be going back, nor will any of my clients and I’d urge others to vote with their feet. This could be a great place, some of the staff are lovely but customer service really leaves a lot to be desired and when making big expensive purchases I think we deserve better. He might as well be working as a used car sales man — shame on you Laurence.

Ant and I have been in here a few times, and every time have left much quicker than we wanted to because we get followed around the shop. Quietly and creepily staff shadow your every move desperate to take a sale. Think they must get quite a cut of it. You feel obliged to talk to them in the end. Although many of the pictures are gorgeous, you can get these prints in other places at a much more reasonable price. You just need to do a bit of digging.

Very dissapointed with the level of customer service they provide. let me explain I have bought a piece of art from Artrepublic last Feb/11 and after paying a lot of money for it got ruined I believe because the type of frames that they selling with it! I went and ask for a refund or assistance and turn ou that the owner or manager it was very rude and refused to do something about it. He shouldn’t be working or running this type of business for his rudness! A total rip off for what concerns the frames they selling you can get better price online be aware!!!

Hahaha, love ArtRepublic, stumbled across this gem in Brighton and walked out with a limited edition, signed Damien Hirst print for a pretttttty penny. Didn’t expect that, but they have a great collection of prints from Banksy, Hirst, Peter Blake, etc. and the service is really great — they know what they’re talking about. Highly recommended if you’re interested in art or looking to buy an investment piece, and they are more than happy to spend all the time you need discussing the works and making sure you find the right piece for you. I never felt like they pushed me into buying nor did they direct my attention elsewhere. A great place.

Don’t be fooled by its glossy exterior, Art Republic is not simply a print house a la Athena, much more in fact, it champions selected Brighton artists and exhibits their work in a very airy, light-generous space. Acts like Dan Baldwin, Neil Carter and Ben Allen may be reaching a wider audience now but Art Republic has been behind them all the way. You can pick up Banksy prints in here as well as Warhols and a welath of other well known pop art.

Print galore in this edgy and moderately priced art-mart. The work is mostly sort of graphics with an x, so that would be graphix. This is definately in the Graphic Fine Art category, if we are going to get categorical. Art Republic obviously have because they have their aesthetic pinned down and wrestling for space amongst the crammed walls. For me a lot of this work wrests on puns and dramaticised political references which gives it a boyish playful sense of humour, but fails to hold my interest for a long while, long enough to have on my walls that is. But that aesthetic is sexy, and many people can live with it for a long time, hence Banksy still selling like hot cakes whilst a Warhol recently sold in London for the price of a public library.

Sadly, I don’t have money to burn on art prints, but if I did, then I would certainly spend some of it here. They sell a wide range of prints and posters — and manage to combine edgy and modern with more classic pieces, so there’s something for everyone. I love the Ben Allen pieces — lots of colour and unusual shape and movement — but sadly these are some of the most expensive. There are plenty of more affordable options, starting from around £20 — and if you’re looking for an unusual gift, they had a Valentines sale on last time I was here. I don’t really do Valentines, but still — I wonder if my boyfriend’s reading?

Art Republic stocks a relatively varied range of prints of different genres, ranging from the entirely abstract to highly-political depictions of one hypocrisy or another endemic in Western Civilization. Although such variety does mean that there is something for everyone, a trip inside here often seems to spark marmite-like thought processes, with viewers drifting between one of two mental outlooks when gazing upon the works on display — that’s brilliant, or that’s terrible -. The prices don’t help such extreme polarization, with their extraordinarily inflated nature greatly contributing to the overall feeling that someone is most definitely getting ripped off.

People must buy artwork from Art Republic, or it would have closed down years ago, but I certainly don’t. Despite the work on offer being a little out of my price range, Art Republic is also accessible to those who are simply looking to appreciate some fine art. There are also books on sale that correspond with the work on the walls, which does mean you can take a more affordable slice of art home with you, albeit a mass-produced slice. I am a big fan of Banksy and Jamie Hewlett’s work, both of whom are heavily featured in AR. Regardless of whether or not Banksy lacks street credential any more, I still think his work looks glorious on building walls and in print. There are also a number of other artists’ work on offer — all in a similar vein of bright colours and clean, large-scale prints — which, given you have the cash, would make a great addition to your home. Art is good: Art Republic offers art to appreciate, or buy and appreciate. This is good. Good, good, good!

Desperately seeking the new print by Banksy? Or perhaps an old one by Peter Blake or Jamie Reid? One of the best commercial art galleries on the South East coast, artrepublic offer a vast selection of limited edition and open edition screen prints, giclee prints and posters. Alongside classic artists like Andy Warhol and Edward Hopper, they stock a huge range of local and international urban artists including D*Face, Shephard Fairey, Dan Baldwin, Imbue, Static and Bonnie and Clyde. For those with a limited budget, Artrepublic are part of the Own Art scheme which allows you to make monthly payments over an agreed period of time. They also have a great selection of frames and the staff are helpful, passionate and knowledgable. If you want a tip on which new artists to keep an eye on, speak to Lindsay, Lawrence or Vanessa. If you like what’s on their walls, you should also check out their smaller, sister gallery — Ink-d on North Road — and their London gallery, Tom Tom in Soho.

A classy gallery with an excellent range of artwork on offer in addition to sound advice and a very professional framing service. I’ve often enjoyed mooching through the selection on offer here. Furthermore, there also seems to be an element of supporting local art also. Only downside is that it isn’t the cheapest place in the world, however it would be unfair of me to criticise a shop simply because I can’t really afford the merchandise!

Besides having a massive, massive range of all types of artwork on display here, both in print format and framed, Artrepublic offers a variety of framing services. The results of which have never ceased to amaze. And the staff are amazingly knowledgable about just about all artists and styles you could imagine, so if you want something and can’t quite describe it, ask them and they’ll more likely then not be able to tell you exactly what it is. Prices may be a bit steep depending on what you buy, but the service you get in return is phenomenal. Sign up for their mailing list for all the best offers.

Just seen some impressive artwork. Theres work by Andrew McAttee & Graham Carter to Pure evil on display here. Lot of it is bordering on pop art. This is not a bad thing. This gallery is worth a visit for its freshness. The colours are magical and if you don’t believe me check out
