Until recently, a well known chain like KFC was a delight which I could only test while abroad, because there were no halal branches in U.K. Now, I can honestly say I am pleased to be spoilt for choice. We have Subway, Nando’s and now KFC that I can take my children to taste their specials. And special treatment is what I wanted on Thursday for my littlest wonder, who wanted a milkshake. It said 99p with a meal. I ordered a £15 meal and asked for a Krush’em to go with it, the counter girl apologised because she pressed her finger on the till too soon and thus my son was denied his 99p Krush’em. No amount of protest could appease them. The meal was not as spicy and crunchy as what I remembered in Dubai and Turkey, but an extra helping of wings soon sorted that out. Apparently it’s to do with the batter they use, the batter on the wings was tastier! This KFC branch was in the centre of town and had additional seating capacity upstairs. The single toilet facility when upstairs is closed is not convenient for customers. However, a good meal for under £18 with ample for the kids to take home and snack on later. Shame I had to call into Mc Donalds for the milkshake on the way home. KFC could take lessons from McDonalds on the customer service attitude, and McDonalds could learn from KFC and the rest by opening a halal friendly branch.
